I’ve started using versa grips for most top sets on pulling exercises. Should I have admitted this in the flame free confession thread?

These were the exact kinds of exceptions I was thinking about, and not deserving of the ridicule. But the average gym resident should ditch them for most things.

Press:
10 reps @ 60kg

Bench press:
5 x 60kg
5 x 70kg
12 x 70kg
50 reps @ 52.5kg AFSAP (4 sets)

JM-press:
3 x 8

Heavy partial raises:
3 x 30

Y-raises:
3 x 12

Cable fly:
30-10-30

Rower:
100m EMOM fro 8 minutes

Notes:

  • Press felt nice and smooth again, these are getting easier and easier.
  • Bench didn’t feel quite as easy as expected, but still an improvement. Wrist is sore in places from yesterday so gripping the bar was no fun.
  • Rower is starting to feel more challenging. I was definitely flagging on the later rounds. Legs are still sore to touch from Monday, might be a contributing factor. Am doing a charity run later for work which should be interesting.

Notes:

  • Called an audible there, bicep tendons feeling more and more sore throughout this.
  • Also worth noting hamstrings have been struggling to recover recently too.

Mine are sore there as well, no doubt from 100 rows and 20 power cleans yesterday. It’s a middle age thing for sure.

I was meant to do Cleans today, but I didn’t want to be doing too much dynamic work on sore tendons. It’s the Sandbag carries that do it for me. Also, the decades of no direct bicep work.

Good chance it’s the picking UP the sandbag doing it. I tend to row it into my lap, which tears up my arms

I am assuming that was cluster work. If it was a single set, then my Nice Work changes to Damn Son.

It was done across a few sets, none very close to failure. I usually do 3 singles by way of warm-up, a couple of doubles and a triple. Usually wrapped up in considerably under 10mins, depending how long my neck is taking to loosen up and stop hurting that day.
