I honestly don’t understand how the Ultra Sunrise isn’t everyone’s favorite flavor. It’s just orange soda.
thats what I was thinking! If I did that I would have 10 sec of rest between sets.
@flappinit I’ve never seen Ultra Sunrise but that sounds amazing.
@simo74 it’s 60kg, you’d knock that out pretty quickly.
Work for today, courtesy of the burpee king @ChongLordUno and IronWolf
100 burpees (19:38):
1-25: double pump burpee pull ups
25-50: double pump burpees with 3 air squats
50-75: double pump burpee broad jumps
75-100: double pump burpees
1 mile run (untimed)
Wow mate. Superb @dagill2 my man
Let’s do this shit
Serious action there!
Looks like that Scottish nutter @ChongLordUno has rubbed off on you (maybe even literally)
Ooooooh matron
Ha ha ha (in my best Sid James)
That looks slightly worse than one I used to do:
2 hang cleans, 2 push press, 2 front squat.
And I only did it for 15 minutes.
I think you’re underestimating your stress levels. I’ve seen a lot of stress in your log lately whether you’re talking about work or your workouts. It’s all had a negative vibe to it.
I’m not judging; just pointing it out. You guys have helped me out in the same way.
You’re probably right mate. I’ve had similar feedback recently at work, which is a bit of an issue for me, because i usually pride myself on not passing stress down the line.
Work for tonight: cruisey ~20mins run. Left my phone in the car and just picked a route I’ve run before on 20min runs. Felt pretty good to be back.
This was me for months during the back end of last year and start of this year. 4 weeks in a new job with much lower stress and I am literally a new man. I still have my odd grumpy moment but so much happier and less shouty, and my energy and desire to train and do things is back. Dont underestimate the impact work, especially if t is stressful has on both your physical and mental well being.
Definitely feeling it mate, got to say. Feel like I’m “training on a nerve” in every area of life at the minute. 2 weeks to holiday, can’t come soon enough.
Work for today:
Squats:
10 x 5 @ 80kg
Really focusing on fast, explosive reps here. Just had my first vaccine dose and starting to feel the effects already so kept this minimal so I don’t have to do any lower body work tomorrow. I’ll try and chill and recover as much as possible today and give myself the option of a lie in and rest tomorrow morning.
Am also considering a membership to Jim’s private forums. Everytime I hear the guy speak or read his work, it all makes sense and I remember why I follow 531 at all. I think it would be beneficial to me to have these reminders more regularly.
Anyone had any experience on those forums?
I’ve been on the forum before. He posts updates on the London football team, shares some info and articles not found in his books or blog, offers discount codes to his store, and answers questions much more readily than on here (understandably so). Otherwise the forum teems with 5/3/1 training logs of the other members though. I’m not sure if Jim, Juliet, or Matt still maintain logs there.
Are you going to leave us ![]()
While it’s not my #1, it’s in the top echelon of all beverages because it really is like the absolute best orange pop (I’m in Ohio, so pop). The Ultras are the only “diet” drinks I have tried that don’t taste or feel diet, I have no idea why. They need to make decaf versions for those of us that don’t enjoy slugging back sugar to get our sweet fix.
I’m sure getting the hell outta dodge for awhile will help you man. I can usually pull off some ridiculous feats under high stress, but holy balls do I need a lot of recovery after. How long you gonna be out for?
Can concur. I have a really hard time justifying any other programs because the tenets of 5/3/1 just work for me.
@Bagsy that’s pretty useful, thank you. I’m not expecting much in the way of contributions from Jim himself, but more frequent reminders of the 531 philosophy in action might be useful to get me away from the shiny things.
Not at all, no.
Getting a little jealous over here. Might have to Amazon this.
