10 Miles Back Again

I think it was actually a good idea (if you did not warm-up that is) because indeed your cardio-respiratory and oxydative pathway take time to set in place, and usually people that start too fast pay the price

Lots of people have said the same thing. Definitely a psychological thing too though, really expected today to be 20 rep squat unpleasant whereas most of it was stuck on a conference call unpleasant.

Also: just looked ahead and I have only a few more sessions of interval running. After that, app lady seems to run out of ideas because its just ā€œrun for 25-30minsā€ three times a week. I guess I’ll probably end up finishing it out of stubbornness but it may take me a while at that point.

Give me 20 rep squats over conference calls any day of the week, unfortunately life gives the calls, frequently.

5km, 25 mins, it’ll prove your superiority over @Cyrrex.

I only have 2 a week normally, although I have more coming in the next few weeks. Usually I can just keep my camera off and get on with something else though, very rare I have to pay attention.

Do you think that would shame him into finishing the program? He does seem to get a bit upset when he can’t keep up with us young ones.

Its definitely on the cards though, probably as a deal to myself that if I get a 5k run, that’s the end of the program and I don’t have to do all the scheduled runs. Seems like my get out of jail free card.

Totally, fat old git still thinks he can keep up!

In 25 mins.

Now you’re putting words in my mouth

Well come on you’ve got to have a challenge, anyone can amble round 5km - do it in 25 mins and you’ll proove a decent level of proficiency!

I did that the other day. Do I win a prize? Is @Cyrrex my butler now?

I am almost certainly going to ā€œfinishā€ the program, if our definition of that is running 5k. I will not need the very last day of the program which calls for 35 minutes to run it, because I am pretty sure I can manage it in the session before that, which gives 30 minutes. Probably do it tomorrow if the weather is decent.

I won’t be goaded into going after 25 minutes. Was never a goal, and I have no plan to change that. Holds no meaning for me.

Except the meaning of being considered somewhat athletic, not just some middle aged jogger, but whatever, your goals, you do you etc.

Smug self satisfaction and E-superiority.

The best prize of all.

Pfft, I’m already enough of a handful, we don’t need to add ā€œamazing runnerā€ to the list. My mindset has been on this for a while:

…and my mile run is the worst of these over the last half year, and that is still barely in the middle column.

Edit - the above was intended to sound insufferably smug.

Work for this arvo:

Jumps: 10

Snatch Grip High Pull: 3 x 70kg

Squats:
10 reps @ 120kg

Press:
5 x 5 @ 52.5kg

Dips:
7-6-5-4-3

Pull ups:
7-6-5-5-3

Notes:

  • Squats felt HEAVY today. Lots of singles in there. Everything else felt fine.

Was wondering how this program worked, cuz the early days look easy. Looks nice though.

Working like a charm, to be honest.

5 sets a day, 5 days a week, add a rep everyday.

I expect a day will come when you say to yourself ā€˜nope, I just can’t add more’. If it helps any, I will be watching for it, call attention to it, and probably find some clever names to call you.
