10 Miles Back Again

Yeah I always called them Roman Chair as well but I was probably wrong. I was calling the other 90° back extension bench

I would like to add my support for whatever Pwn said, especially that it’s now been made clear that he was correct, as usual.

Not gonna lie – you and Dan John are making me want to buy a kettlebell.

Kbs are the best and not too expensive either . Better value than a dB imo

Kettlebells are a great addition to barbell work in my opinion. If I was outfitting a home gym from scratch for myself, a kettlebell or two would come after a bar, plates and a rack/stand but before anything else, with the possible exception of a pull up bar.

Don’t encourage my impulsive consumerism…

Interesting to read that. I have honestly never used KBs much besides some swings once in a blue moon when I had access to them.

The list of exercises I do with them is short:

Swings
Clean (and press)
Snatch
Front Racked squats/carries

I think its a totally different feel to barbell training or bodyweight training. More difficult, less stressful is the best way I can describe it, and perfect for “I’ve got 10mins, what can I do that’s productive”. @ChongLordUno or @antiquity might have a better way with words than me here.

I agree with this so much. No fussing with plates, just grab n’ go.

Also great for taking to a hill, or a track or beach or wherever else you might be training. I can’t think of much other training equipment that’s that portable.

As @dagill2 says, they really are a great compliment to barbell training. I have recently gotten way more into them, and have tried both stand-alone Pavel programs but most recently as part of a barbell and conditioning program. I do the same exercises that dagill2 lists.

Another great way to incorporate them is with conditioning. This is new to me, and I have followed Tactical Barbell as a guide. Examples are sprints followed by 10 heavy swings, or higher rep swings followed by 800m runs, etc… Fun, and a nice combination of strength and conditioning.

I recently upped by KB collection, and if you’re interested I would strongly recommend Girya Great Lakes. They make awesome bells at very reasonable prices compared to other high end makers (for example, KB USA are similar in quality but much more expensive). They last forever and will never go out of style.

Nothing much to add matey

They bring an artistic quality to the iron game.

I’m filing my taxes today, and my projected return looks awesome so far.

I had been eyeing an adjustable KB so that I wouldn’t have to accumulate different sizes. I’m not sure if anyone here has one of those though.

My gym in Shanghai had one. It was a pain in the ass. I didn’t like how the plate things clanged and was always scared to go hard because it didn’t feel secure
Maybe it’s a quality issue though

I’ve almost pulled the trigger on an adjustable KB from Titan like a hundred times haha. I just haven’t been able to commit to the purchase but it looks like a solid piece for a home gym.

I can load those a million different ways, I don’t need kb for that. I wouldn’t buy a kettlebell for those.

I don’t do pistols except to prove that I can. I don’t see much benefit beyond that.

Again, I can load all these a million ways, I don’t need kettlebells for them.

In unrelated news: tonights planned run has been cancelled. I turned my ankle walking 5m from my front door to my car this morning, because that’s what athletes do, and its swollen up quite a lot this arvo. I’ll see how it recovers tonight and tomorrow, its a long work day tomorrow anyway.
