It was a weird spur of the moment decision in an attempt to get something worth posting in the check in thread since I don’t think I’ve ever contributed meaningfully to it. Didn’t quite work out because my phone fell over but fuck it, I’m pretty proud of that set. Don’t have to feel like I’m still riding the coat tails of MMS.

That’s kind of the key: feeling like you’re going to die and realising that you won’t.

I’m pretty sure you’ve got me on 1RM strength though.

No need for playing nice. My best 1RM was 120kg one year ago pre-covid. Haven’t touched a barbell since! :joy:

I wonder how quick I can get back to 100kg x 10 once I get access to a barbel :thinking:

My last memory of your squat was aiming for a 140kg single, which would equal my best. I haven’t squatted over 120kg for a long, long time.

Nope, not even close. I might have a single at 150 in me, if I’m lucky. 20 rep sets and singles are a very different skillset.

There’s a few reasons: I’m a long way away from a time when I’ll need to care about my 1RM strength, I won’t be testing until Christmas. Also, I don’t have any safeties at home, I’m squatting out of a very cheap, 8 year old squat stand.

Ahh I see. Yeah, safeties are a big factor lol. I don’t know how others get to dump the bar backwards and do that mini hop forwards when they need to ditch the bar. It’s amazing when I see it. I have a tendency to fall forward and dump the bar forward when I fail probs because low bar

That’s the best way! Because it’s the only way I do it and it drives the internet crazy, haha.

Fully understand the reps vs singles thing. I can do reps for days, but singles are no bueno. Just different strengths.
