1 rep of each exercise, 2rep each exercise… 10rep each exercise, then back down
@aldebaran what @anna_5588 said. Work from 1 rep of each exercise all the way up to 10 reps, then back down again.
@flappinit it’s such a neat rep scheme, it’s a wonder I didn’t think of it sooner.
@Frank_C I think that would literally take me all day. I’d imagine those benches and cleans (which seems like a really low weight for athletes that practice these things) would be approaching my max.
Now I want to try this
Work for today:
Giant set (5 rounds):
5 pull ups
10 trap bar press (30kg?)
30s RKC plank
5 burpees
Assistance:
Lateral raises: some
V-ups: some
Notes:
- Slightly rushed today, had a full session planned and was intending to head to the actual gym to get a bench session in. Turns out that almost all the parking has been removed and what remains will cost me £3.20 an hour and involve a minimum of 10mins walk to actually get into the gym. So I’ll be cancelling my membership and probably have a look for another gym.
Not going for the full home gym route?
Maybe. Slightly reluctant to pull the trigger for a few reasons.
I did just find somewhere round the corner from me that looks absolutely amazing, and with a normal opening schedule that would allow me quite a few sessions a week there, but they don’t advertise prices online so I’ll have to actually organise a tour and figure out how spendy it is.
Worth the spendi for the gains
My gym is kind of like that. It’s a bit pricier than regular gyms, but 100% worth it. Could be a blessing in disguise!
Are we talking double or triple the cheapest gym membership you could get? For double (lets say 2x $10 to keep it simple) where i’m at is getting access to comp standard powerlifting equipment and all the strongman implements.
Maybe. I’m sure I can get the same results in a home gym if I needed to, wouldn’t take much investment to be able to do everything I need. It’s the fun stuff that would be nice to have.
Prowlers, kegs, tires, O-lifts, climbing ropes, all sorts of interesting options for cardio, GHRs (many), proper racks etc. Possibly specialist bars that I can’t see from photos. I also drive right past it on my way home, I believe it has free parking and probably most importantly, there’s a chance of some actually strong people lifting there, which is valuable. I should not be being complimented on my squat, particularly when I’ve actually loaded the bar for presses.
Ye if dem things are important to u then sounds like worth a bit more. I like to be a small fish if u no nomsayin. Drives me to be better
I think it would be easier to push harder when there’s other people around who know what they’re talking about and know what real effort looks like. Been a long, long time since I’ve trained in a real gym.
It does but I do alright by myself also. Never done much big fish-ing during my training career have always upgraded as I went. Have left my original muscle senpais behind
Do it.
This path leads to the dark side. And also probably push presses.
A lot of this stuff is cheap enough to buy for a home gym and you’d recoup the costs inside a year or two!
Plus you spend lots of time with strong dudes on here, not quite the same, but definitely “works” to a degree - lifts I would have been impressed with myself for years ago are now very much average, it keeps you humble and hungry!
Not true for the oly equipment, if it is good and if you value it. The cost for that is horrific. I guess it comes down to what is most convinient and ultimately what you prefer. Pros and cons for both. Also depends on space and setup possibilities for the home gym

You’re lucky to have access to a gym like that. I get tempted to socialize between sets when I’m at a proper gym
Luckily, I hate people, so that won’t be an issue
