That’s the plan, yeah. Not sure how much further I can push it right now without more food and more accessories though. We’ll see.

@anna_5588 my belly wants it, but I am noticeably overweight, so I’ll steer clear of that plan for now. My goal right now is to be slowly losing weight until end of August time, roughly. By that point I anticipate being around 180lbs, and less noticeably a fatty. I’ll be participating in the ADD challenge again this year (if @Frank_C is running it) so I’ll have a 16 week ā€œeat to gainā€ program written taking me up to Christmas time, when I’ll retest maxes, see the progress I’ve made this year and dive straight into next years ā€œyear of 531ā€ with the aim of hitting my long term strength goals by the end of next year.

@Cyrrex I tried that, which is why I’m having to lose all the weight I lost last year again.

I think my spur-of-the-moment thought is to switch to a more structured training plan, but use a more intuitive method while I’m still losing weight. Certainly plans designed to be used while eating to gain need to be taken off the table, because I’m not. So pwns idea of self regulating programs makes absolute sense. Probably a version of Brian Alsruhe linear progression plan, with a bit more structure.

I saw this last year but never understood what it was about. Do you just not program hop for a year?

True.
Although, I never had a problem with program hopping in the past because I never really had a program :rofl:
I did a pretty good job with my 4 or so sweet months running Sheiko… until COVID…

It wouldn’t hurt you to join this year, assuming gyms will be reopen by then, so we can bust your ass about skipping assistance to do conditioning every week. It’ll be like old times.

J ran it from early September, I just tend to start early because that gives me 16 weeks til Christmas with a couple of deloads thrown in where needed.

I managed not to skip assistance. Guilty as charged with conditioning :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
One of the most annoying part about the program was not being able to do fun conditioning workouts without jepordizing my next squat day

It felt like a weird fit for you. I think Brian Alsruhe programming would work well for you when you can use the gym, if you could commit to only training 4 days a week.

Well… my goals were (and still are) powerlifting, and I enjoy volume work

His structure of training is exactly how I used to structure my sessions before I knew anything (with actual sensible progressions of course). I actually don’t really like combining strength and conditioning into a single session. Makes me want to skip assistance :rofl:

Then do a deal with yourself to leave the conditioning until the end. The deal is that you put your all into the strength work, then after you get to do some silliness with pistols and handstands and stuff.

Training mental toughness is a good thing, and preached by most big strong people that I can think of.

A pre-written program helps here, there’s no second guessing. You did the program or you didn’t. Here’s your instructions, do no more, no less. Your only job is to do the work and do whatever is needed to recover.

When I get back to the gym, I’m going to run a 3 or so week pretty low volume, very basic linear template to get me used to heavy barbell work again. Run some version of 5/3/1 or Candito’s 6 week program. Then it’s back to Sheiko.

A lot of us tend to program hop around the 3-6 week mark. The challenge was to post your plan and then stick to it. Colucci even created a tag for training logs so we could check in on each other.

We ran it from Sept to the end of the year. The programs didn’t have to last that long. You just had to commit to one and finish it.
