Does Brian allow any rest during the giant sets or is it only after each round? I know he programs 90 seconds after completing a round but I don’t know if there’s any rest between the exercises.
The more I have to brace on an exercise, the worse the giant set. Step ups or box jumps suck, but clean pulls suck worse because I have to brace. My heart rate is like 160 after three reps.
Brian doesn’t rest between exercises, just between rounds as I understand it.
I’m still on the fence about how much I’m likely to use this type of programming, but it’s been fun to try it out a bit and I think I’ve learned a decent amount from it
Jumps make it way harder. First time I did Athlete Lean… with the AMRAP box jump for 30 secs supersetted with Back squat, I was humbled to say the least
@Koestrizer you’re such a purist. But no, you’re right, it was a silly idea. I think it would be interesting to try the proper way. And by interesting, I mean probably awful.
@aldebaran maybe, but there’s a big difference between 30s of jumps and 3 unloaded jumps. I think I prefer jumps after squats all in all. Seems to really fry the legs to try and generate power after squats.
It was awful. Now imagine doing 4 sets of high rep leg presses, 3 sets of high rep leg extensions, hamstring curls and SLDL after. That’s my idea of no fun.
Think it is a twisty ab exercise. Not sure if is the version where you hold a plate over your head and do twisty situps while moving the plate, or just simply ab halos using the legs.
