10.0 nmol/l for Test, Is This Low?

I got 10.0 nmol/l on my lab test results that igot from life labs results it it didn’t say if it was free or total it just said reproductive and gonadal above test and flag results above 10.0 and reference range above 8.4 to 28.8 should I be concerned with getting t replacement with such a low level should I talk to my docter

You’d have to triple your current T level to be at the top of the range.

The levels of 10 nmol/L does make you eligible for TRT, <12 nmol/L TRT can be prescribe in a trial period. Your levels are in the normal range, but these people have diseases living in an environment that is contaminated are also included in the normal ranges, so this is something to consider.

You really need more testing, SHBG levels are important, SHBG is a protein synthesized in the liver and secreted into the bloodstream where fulfills its biological function, which is the transport of sex steroids hormones. Therefore, SHBG levels emerge as one of the most critical parameters that are implied in regulating the access of these hormones to their target tissues, where it can even regulate testosterone action.

You ask are these levels low, these levels are seen in elderly people with one foot in the grave.

Levels below 16.6 nmol/L are associated with cardiovascular disease.

Testosterone Threshold for Increased Cardiovascular Risk in Middle-Aged and Elderly Men:

The locally weighted regression showed that total testosterone levels of 440 and 480 ng/dL were associated with increased Framingham CVD risk and an increased probability of increased hsCRP, respectively. Men with sexual dysfunction (poor sexual performance, decreased morning erection, and loss of libido) had significantly greater CVD risk.

Cost of hormone-disrupting chemical exposure in Europe in billions

EDCs interfere with the body’s hormones. Found in food and food containers, plastics, furniture, toys, carpeting, building materials, and cosmetics, they contain chemicals such as bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, flame retardants, and pesticides such as chlorpyrifos. They are often released from such products and enter the bodies of humans through ingestion, dermal contact or inhalation.

“Costs in the U.S. would likely be quite similar, as exposures to EDCs are fairly similar to those occurring in the EU, although levels of flame retardants are much higher in the U.S.”

So I should defenetely talk to my doctor about trt and get a shbg test

How should I approach my doctor about. this so he doesn’t think I’m just shopping for test.cause in the labs thing it says it’s a reference range of 8.4 to 28.8 so what if he says I’m in the normal range…

You can always get a new doc also if you aren’t being heard

I’d go to him with the test results and whatever symptoms you are having and ask for more lab tests to start with.

British Society for Sexual Medicine guidelines on adult testosterone deficiency, with statements for UK practice

Thresholds for testosterone therapy

  • Regarding the thresholds for treatment intervention in symptomatic men, British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM) and International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) guidelines recommend the following:
    • TT level lower than 8 nmol/l or FT level lower than 180 pmol/l (<0.180 nmol/l; based on 2 separate levels from 8 to 11 AM) usually requires testosterone therapy
    • TT level higher than 12 nmol/l or FT level higher than 225 pmol/l (>0.225 nmol/l) does not require testosterone therapy
    • levels from 8 to 12 nmol/l might require a trial of testosterone therapy for a minimum of 6 months based on symptoms
  • BSSM guidelines also state:
    • a FT level lower than 225 pmol/l (0.225 nmol/l) provides supportive evidence for testosterone therapy in the presence of appropriate symptoms

Just because your levels are within the normal ranges doesn’t in anyway mean that it’s healthy, the normal range and healthy ranges are very different. The problem is the reference ranges are used against us in order to save on healthcare costs.

Think about it for second, iron is essential for energy production within the body, having your iron at the bottom of the range may be normal, but is isn’t healthy, in fact you lose the metabolism boosting properties of thyroid hormones when ferritin drops below 70, but the reference range goes all the way down to 25.

So normal and healthy are not the same things, doctors would have you believe it though and tell you nothing is wrong. They are either lying to you or are just incompetent and are going off what they were taught in medical school which is–> in range is normal.

Normal 10 years ago looked very different, today normal is the adult population is declining in health status, look around at the adult population, you see obesity rates climbing. The sperm quality and mobility has declined substantially in the last couple of decades, each generation is seeing lower and lower testosterone.

If you get a doctor that has a bias to TRT, you get another doctor or look for TRT in anti-aging or sports medicine. Depending on your location, there are anti-aging clinics in the UK.

Balance My Hormones and Men’s Health Clinic are two options.

I live in canada

Dr. Lawrence D. in Komer Burlington, Ontario is a doctor which runs a private men/women clinic specializing in hormones.

i live in ontario and just went through this… family doctor said my total t was normal in same range as yours even though I had every low t symptom there is… after 3 years he finally agreed to send me to endocrinologist… he ordered free t and bio available t be measured… my free t was well below the low threshold and he was able to treat for low t. he was quite clear unless something in labs come back below normal there was nothing he could do… but since I was low in just one test he could treat me from now on… in short ask to see specialist, get more specific tests done and hope one comes in as below normal…

Yeah I live in abbotsford BC

So I got the test prescription I asked for further testing and to see a hormone specialist and he said I was baseline test level I described my symptoms and he put me on 200 mg every two weeks

Eek. At least he gave you a somewhat reasonable amount… but that dosing schedule sucks.

Are you going to be allowed to inject on your own? Go to at least weekly injections.

No I can’t I live at a 2nd stage recovery homeso no

A hormone specialists prescribing injections every 2 weeks, a specialist I think not. At this injection frequency you are not on the right path and this will delay any recovery.

Hormone profiles after intramuscular injection of testosterone enanthate in patients with hypogonadism

In fact, the present study confirmed serum levels of T which were lower than pre-ART value levels on day 14 after administration. Therefore the further decrease in serum T levels on day 14 after administration is considered to relapse of hypogonadal symptoms and to reduce the patients quality of life.

I thought every two weeks might be a problem to

Could I take effect eventually I see him in a month maybe I could switch it to weekly than.getting the injection by another doctor

Bottom line is 10nmol/l is really LOW

So are you saying it will be lower than original levels after two weeks
