1 Florida vs 2 Alabama

How can you use this game to make that statement…when you know every game is different?? Very flawed…very. Does entertaining mean competitive? If so…who other than Texas can really be “competitive” against the Tide.

There is no way to know that last night’s Longhorns are the same team that will show up against Bama…just as we don’t know if the same Bama team that routed Florida will show up either. It easily could be exciting or a defensive game(which is still exciting, imo). That is why they play each other. We shall see…hopefully.

Tebow will still be fucking that fine ass girl tho in essence he is a still a winner.

This is true, but you also have to consider the fact that most voters, and the computer system in college football, take into account many more factors than just the W.

That is true. Sad that it comes to these type of discussions…when a playoff would do all the talking for us.

A playoff system would never happen though =/. There is strong evidence that college athletes do worse academically if they are part of a bowl-level team. Since the attitude is academics over sports, which is rightfully so since many of those kids won’t make it to the NFL, they won’t do anything that would extend the season and subsequently hurt their grades.

I would love nothing more than a playoff system in college football, I think it would be like March Madness on the Anaconda Protocol.

I just worry that the money that college football makes from the sponsorships that surround bowl games are to powerful and stand as a blatant obstacle to change.

It’s official, 'Bama and Texas in the championship game, hopefully they will put on a show. I think I’m actually most excited to see Boise State and TCU square off, I think it’s a great match-up between two teams that are relatively new to the elite football scene.

Thoughts on the bowls?

What is this now? Tebow the perfect missionary kid? FUCKING!? say it aint so.

Something interesting was pointed out…how does one differentiate between UT and TCU? Both are undefeated, though both are in different conferences. They will never play each other in regular season. What stat, victory, or what not is going to separate them?

I am not going to argue who should be in the championship game because I think Alabama, Texas, TCU, Cincinatti, and Boise State are all worthy. But I think the Boise State vs. TCU game was a bullshit, gutless move by the BCS. They are afraid of the Mountain West going 3-0 against BCS teams in their bowl games. Plus, this is a rematch of last year’s Poinsettia Bowl.

I felt that TCU was screwed…they should be playing Florida and have Boise State vs. Cincinatti. I hate the BCS system with a passion.

I think it will be plenty entertaining. Mark Ingram is an electrifying player and very fun to watch when he makes big plays. I predict many of those from him against Texas.

If Texas doesn’t deserve to go after their performance against (ranked) Nebraska, why should Alabama go after their performance against (unranked) Auburn last week?
Because this week they went in and manhandled Florida. Alabama Auburn is something that transcends the rankings. It’s one of those rivalry games that teams wait all year to play and anything can happen. Bama pulled that one out and redeemd themselves by thrashing a Florida team that hasn’t lost in over 12 months. There isn’t a college football team in the nation right now that can beat Bama.
QFT i am an auburn alum, and i have to add, auburn is an AVERAGE SEC team. that makes them better than most top teams in the other conferences. the sad fact is that the reason more SEC teams are not ranked in the top ten is they have to play each other, and get more than one loss on their record. it is the toughest conference in the country. google the SEC teams record in NC games.

You KNOW Bama is onto something when Auburn fans are giving them credit.

I agree, those games would have been much better and are much more deserved. I think bowl season should be entertaining nonetheless.

I agree. I think everybody wanted to see what TCU and Boise st. could do against the big conference teams. I thought a TCU vs. Florida matchup would be great. We are stuck with this stupid BCS system for another four years.

Texas beat TCU in 2007 34-13. Dont forget what happened to Bama last year in their bowl game. In 2005 USC was being praised as being the best college team of all time and Texas went out and beat them. With a month off there is no way to really predict how the teams are going to show up. SEC is known for Defense, BIG 12 is known for offense. Now where did Texas rank in Defense? Lets bump this in a month and see.

Who cares if Texas beat TCU in 2007? I don’t see what that has to do with this year.

I agree. This TCU team is way better than the 2007 team.

A lot of sports writers are claiming that they matched up TCU and Boise State so that neither of the so called “BCS Buster” teams would have a shot at taking down a legit BCS team like Florida. I thought that was a very interesting and seemingly valid point.
