Weird results.
77% don’t like his performance, but he has a lead by 25 points over Kerry. That is bizarre!
Aside from my inherent questions of online polls due to self-selection bias, I can think of a couple possible explanations if you trust the poll result:
- They think Kerry will do worse generally;
- They are dissatisfied with Bush for reasons that do not attract them to John Kerry, i.e. they are dissatisfied from the conservative perspective;
- They are repulsed enough by Kerry the person to overcome their dissatisfaction with Bush’s performance;
- They have one issue which is of paramount importance to them (e.g. national security) on which they think Bush will do better than Kerry, even if they are generally dissatisfied with Bush.
