ZMA Timing

Really the title should cover all of the late night supps I take on an empty stomach but alas, that would make for quite the mouthful as titles go.

I take ZMA, GABA, and for now an herbal sleep aid and DHEA, just before bed time on an empty stomach.

Some nights, like tonight, I tend to be a bit pressed for time, and wonder if I could not instead delay my final meal, take the supps about an hour before bedtime, wait 30-45 minutes for them to start to activate, and then have my final meal (which right now is a shake).

I THINK that should mean similar results as my usual, no? I THINK I have done it this way on occasion in the past but my memory is not spot on and I like to be sure about this kind of thing if possible.

The only stipulation I know of with ZMA is to avoid taking it with calcium (i.e. milk), so if you use milk in your shake i would opt for water instead.

Just curious, why is it bad to take zma with calcium?

The calcium can hinder the absorption of the zinc in the ZMA.

You could still eat your final meal on time. I just take my ZMA around 30 minutes before my final meal. Eat. Then sleep for dessert.

I just changed my final to avoid calcium in it. I now kangaroo mince instead of a calcium shake.

Take the supps, wait 40 mins, eat, sleep. If you do that, you can have calcium with your last meal–the ZMA will have already absorbed.

Really?
I just got Calcium-Zinc-Magnesium mix. Nice! What do I do now? I guess I have to finish it.
