These last few weeks, I’ve been waking up at about 5am (sleeping at around midnight) every morning. I go back to sleep in a few mins, but still very annoying.
I’ve been wondering what was causing it and narrowed it down to the ZMA I started taking again. If I take ZMA, 3 before sleeping, I wake up at 5am. If I don’t take it, I sleep through the night. I tried this on/off each day a few times and the pattern repeats.
Anyone know what’s going on here? People usually talk about ZMA helping them sleep, not getting in the way.

This shit happens to me also.
Here I thought I was the only one!
I’m hard as a pole at five AM, although by eight or nine I’m not anymore. What’s up with that?
I liked ZMA at first, but honestly after a little bit I thought it actually made me sleep “lighter” for lack of a better word, and I would easily wake up. Going back to sleep was not a problem but still.
I started taking just magnesium, which I felt helped me relax a bit and never had any issues with waking up because of it (I wake up most nights anyway).
ZMA knocks me out, always get deep sleep with it. Although when suffering with depression I always had early waking, and when I used to drink would also wake easily and have trouble getting back to sleep.

Sure it’s not the crazy ass dreams you get taking them?..My dreams are insane taking zma.
Same here, the best is when they’re violent![/quote]
My first dream taking ZMA involved me jumping from helicopters into the ice cold arctic waters with a harpoon gun in one hand and a dagger in the other, hunting orca whales.
This has come up a few times before. Some people can’t take it at night, i am one of them. Even TC said it wasn’t intended to be a night time sup, it just happened to have sleep benefits for some people. He said take it in the day between meals.
If i take it at night i wake up several times. So i take it between meals. this is no problem, unless you are on it just for the sleep benefits like some ppl do.
I Usually only get that reaction when i take higher than the recommended dosage.I heard that ZMA reduces the amount of sleeping time that you need (eg cramming a nights sleep into 4-5 hours), but as i said i only get negative side effects with higher dosages. As for the Crazy dreams, they don’t happen frequently for me but when they do they are pretty intense.

I loved every second of it

I had a ZMA dream where me and Ronnie Coleman ate at an Italian restaurant and left without paying.
