Wrong, they vibrate molecules, the do not “rupture and twist” them.

Microwaving is fine but don’t microwave plastic. Don’t cook with plastic on the stove top, in the oven or over the campfire.

I hate when people mix junk science with reality.

All the other pseudo scientific crap in this thread aside, are you aware that THE ENTIRE FUCKING POINT of cooking is to denature proteins and rearrange molecules. Homo erectus and their progeny didn’t start cooking with fire because they liked their cheese meltier. They did it for the same reasons we do it, to kill pathogens and make foods easier to digest. That means twisting molecules all willy nilly.

At risk of wasting your money. Use a glass bowl. Save your money. Save the environment. This is just another unnecessary wasteful invention.[/quote]

I agree with Zap. Nuke the veggies in a bowl with a little water, and…PRESTO! Vegetables!

BTW, you know you can eat them without cooking them right?

Ummm, that’s just not true. Twisting? Yes. Rupturing? No. Each type of radiation produces a particular effect on a molecule. Microwave radiation does produce molecular rotation, but it does not have high enough energy to actually break apart bonds.

I suggest an elementary course in analytical or physical chemistry.

Pyrex veggie steamer for the win. It’s still got plastic in it, so it’s not perfect, but I’ve found a 2qt Pyrex oven-safe dish works just as well for steaming veggies with or without the little plastic steamer insert thing. And I think I got mine for about 6 bucks, it cleans up easy and it’ll probbly last forever.
