I have to ditch the headphones when I’m using a heavier weight the first few times. Then I can hear Fall Out Boy covering Michael Jackson on the gym speakers.

I know what you mean, Chris. Some of the best workouts in my past were in total silence.
However, more recently my old joints makes some “rice crispy” sounds which really get under my nerves when training. So heavy rock not only blanks out my noisy joints, but also motivates me… especially when I need a push after a tedious work day.
My list:
Slaves And Bulldozers - Soundgarden
Damn That River - Alice in Chains
Letters From Earth - Black Sabbath (with Dio on vocals, not Ozzy)
Broken, Beat & Scarred - Metallica
NightEndDay - Pelican
Rod Dougan Clubbed to Death
Dream On Aerosmith
Only for the weak Inflames
Ich Will Ramstein
Your hand in mine Explosions in the sky
Time to play the game Motorhead
all nightmare long Metallica
Everyday in hustlin Rick Ross.
I just discovered “I guess you could say” by MC Rut. I feel like it’s “eye of the tiger” for the 21st century, but it might not age well. I’m loving it right now.
