Your Top 3 RPG's

three top and mature rpgs:
the Witcher (buy the extended version), System Shock 2, Gothic 1+2
Planescape was also superb, if you have no problem to read content equal to five or six books.

If I have to include asian stuff, I settle with “Shining - the Holy Ark”.

System Shock 2 scared the hell out of me when I played it. That was quite some time ago though.

FF7 is number one, everything else will always be a battle for second place. You could honestly not even care about video games and just play it for the story. I remember cutting school in 7th or 8th grade to play this one.

For 2nd and 3rd I would have to go Suikoden 2 (whoever mentioned that gets props in my book, extremely underrated game) and Final Fantasy: Tactics. Tactics is only fun if you don’t use the unique characters like Agrias and the other dude (I wanna call him Cid but not sure if that’s actually his name) who was basically a good. They make the game too easy, but if you don’t use them it’s one of the hardest games and one where you actually need to use strategy and thought to win the battles rather than mindlessly mashing O; one of my few criticisms of FF7.

I’m also going to throw out an old-school classic here that I bet almost nobody has played. Shining Force 2, for Sega Genesis. The first one was pretty good as well, but the second is the real deal. You can find it on most emulator sites. I guarantee anybody who’s a fan of RPGs will enjoy it. My only recommendation is to play it on the hardest difficulty setting: the other ones won’t offer enough of a challenge to make it fun by the time you get to the end.
Shining Force 2 is the shit. It was one of my first RPGs. I have it on PS3 on a sega pack haha. I should play it again soon.

anyone play Breath of Fire 2 or 3? forgot about those as well, two of my favorites

I played both of those and also Lufia 1 & 2 as previously mentioned. Those are some awesome RPGs. So many good ones and so little good ones to come out. I also bought FFXIII and while it has some great ideas and awesome graphics, it reminds me of a side scrolling RPG but in 3D if you can understand that. Very disappointing.

Did anyone here play LEGEND OF DRAGOON? Man that was also a memorable game. Overly cheesy but still great!
I loved that game, thought the button mashing in the combat added alot to the game.

1.) Baldur’s Gate 2
2.) Baldur’s Gate 1
3.) Final Fantasy 7

I have a huge affinity towards the BG series; wonderful storylines, IMHO. The world just feels so alive and … epic (unlike Morrowind; I hate that game). I grew up playing AD&D though, so that plays a big part in my list. I loved even the hack-n-slash Icewind Dale games, and the Neverwinter Nights (expansion modules are great campaigns, IMHO) games. I imagine the D&D game mechanics would just be annoying to others, though.

I haven’t played FF7 in a long time; since it came out. Maybe it’s not as good as I remember.

Right now, I’m playing Ogre Battle 64 (A bit shallow, perhaps, but still oddly enjoyable), FF12 (I play this rarely; bought it two years ago, still haven’t beat it), and Secret of the Mana.

planescape: torment
baldur’s gate saga
fallout saga

yeah… i’m a PC guy who hasn’e played in a while…

Favourite Roleplay huh? Let’s see…

 1. Boss/Secretary
 2. Nurse/Patient

Are you insane?

Principal/Misbehaving school girl is number 1, hands down.

I might not agree, but I respect your choice.

Too many good ones.

 1. Tactics Ogre/FF Tactics (very very similar because a lot of same people worked on both TO has more depth however)
 2. Tales of the abyss, amazing action RPG where it is actually possible to die in boss fights
 3. FFX, pretty much everything.

I love FF Tactics, just got back into it on my PSP and boy does it bring back memories.

Haha yeah, I played it too, it was a pretty awesome game.

I dont know what my top three are but number one would be FF7. I have such a huge attachment to that game it’s not even funny, and feel nostalgic and miss it if I think about it. I like everying FF7 related that comes out, Advent Children is even one of my favorite movies. I also really want FF7 to be remade. I think with today’s graphics I might just bust a nut.

Now, If we are counting Zelda games, I’m gonna have to go with Twilight Princess for the Wii. I know I’ll get called ghey for not picking Ocarina of Time or the Original, but I honestly feel it’s the best Zelda ever. Everything was just so much bigger and more awesome and more epic, takes way longer to complete than ocarina of time, boss fights were better, and the storyline in my opinion was better and felt more emotional, plus you get to turn into a friggin wolf, I mean, how cool is that?
