Dude…Never put peanut butter in the fridge. Room temperature PB owns cold, thick, hard to spread PB.

But, but my peanut butter is neither thick nor hard to spread…?

You must be doing something wrong.

Speaking of peanut butter:

Officials Probe Peanut Butter as Salmonella Culprit

Saturday, January 10, 2009

ATLANTA ? Federal officials have not yet identified the cause of a salmonella outbreak striking almost 400 people in 42 states, but state officials in Minnesota said Friday they believe peanut butter may be involved. On Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health said preliminary laboratory testing found salmonella bacteria in a 5-pound container of King Nut brand creamy peanut butter. The tests have not linked it to the type of salmonella in the national outbreak, but additional results are expected early next week.

Minnesota officials did not immediately identify the company that manufactures the peanut butter or say where else it is distributed.

The product apparently is not sold in grocery stores, but is distributed in Minnesota to long-term care facilities, hospitals, schools, universities, restaurants, delis, cafeterias and bakeries.

haha, I must be. I’ve stored natural peanut butter in the fridge before and it got thick and was impossible to spread when making a PBJ. Maybe I didn’t mix it first?

I think I’ll try it again.

Make your own peanut butter - it’s much better.

I like to experiment around, adding walnuts and pecans. Each batch has a slightly different flavor and is much healthier than simply peanut butter.

Just roast your nuts (pun intended) on a low heat for a while in the oven and throw them in a food processor. I make huge batches that last me a month or so.

I almost forgot to mention Trader Joe’s Sunflower Seed Butter. It is definitely worth trying.

pb=delicious

preferably chunky

You may want to refrigerate it nevertheless if you are concerned about aflatoxin. Refrigeration slows down the buildup of a mold called a. flavus (IIRC) and so reduces the amount of aflatoxin produced over time.

Something else to consider: Peanut butter is high in Omega-6 so I wouldn’t go overboard.

That being said, I like the taste and the caloric density so I have it from time to time. Tastes best mixed with cottage cheese and vanilla protein powder, if you ask me.

Why do they have to put cane sugar and honey in that? shit

Go to costco, they have both bulk natty PB and almond butter if I remember correctly. Never bought it there myself, but I’d assume the prices are good.

x2 to PB with vanilla or chocolate casein pre-bed. Mix a few tbs of PB with a scoop or 2 of protein, stir in a bit of water, toss in the freezer for 15 mins, and enjoy. It looks like you’re eating a turd, but tastes amazing.

Creamy is the worst

I do however love the omega enriched natural pb from smart Balance it has a different taste, from the flax and Palm oil.

its almost like a slight fishy taste but I know it sounds horrible but its not its different and a nice change from normal PB
I like the chunky, high calories, high good fat both from the peanuts and from the omegas which we need anyways.

and from the flax and the peanuts it helps my bowels when im going high pro. which is all the time. I never get enough fiber.

I am a huge fan just hate peanut butter

Smart Balance Omega enriched is great stuff. The taste is quickly accquired

great stuff guys, thanks!

For those who were talking about the cost of natural peanut butter.

I buy Adam’s natural PB. I get it at Walmart. It comes in a big glass jar and I can’t remember off the top of my head how much it is but, it’s cheaper than smucker’s natural PB and if you look at the small print down by the ingredient list it’s actually made by smuckers. So that’s what I buy.

I know God exists. How? Because there is peanut butter.

I buy “Naturally More” from Walmart. It’s a peanut butter base, but it has flaxseed oil and flaxseed so that it is higher than omega 3 than omega 6. Has something like 11g fat, 4g net carbs, 10g protein. Win win win.
