Your Mind or Body?

We are all going to grow old. Some of us may be fortunate to keep our minds and our body. Some maybe will lose their mind i.e Alzheimer’s or what have you, some of us maybe lose are physical ability to just do basic things that are easy now, like walk up some stairs or take a bath alone.

So my question is when you get old would you rather have your body be broken down but have a sound mind, or lose your mind?

intelligence is fleeting and unimpressive.

sexy is forever -

my vote? Body~

Best to lose your mind so that you dont know when your gonna die/ you want to die. I have seen older people with great minds get told they got a few weeks to live and its crushing.

What care would you have of anything if you lost your intellect? Lol I don’t know the point of looking great and being in perfect physical health if I dont have the brain to use the body!

I also somewhat lost both recently with lyme disease so I am speaking from experience from someone who had an infected brain, nervous system, and heart… It both sucks.

Luckily in this case its treatable though, makes you really cherish all the things some take for granted!

If I ever get dementia, and if I am ever fortunate enough to have a moment of clarity, I’m going to blow my brains out. That’ll teach it to fuck with me.

EDIT: I could live happily with my mind and ability to communicate in tact. This is assuming I was much older, like great-grandparent age.

I’d choose to keep my mind. What good is a functioning body if you’re so gone you don’t know what you’re doing?

I would rather keep my mind.

Its a giant amusement park.

That statement wins all categories. I’m actually lmao.

I’m half bugs right now so there’s nowhere to go but down. But I’ll leave a beautiful corpse.

I just would never want to not know or remember family or certain events or what have you, but at the same time I don’t want to have to wear adult diapers or not be able to dress myself. But if you are crazy and don’t know it then that’s different.

If you lose your mind, you’ll never be able to find your gym either. So you’d end up losing both in the end.

this just blew my mind!

the paradox -

I have seen both, and if I know my mind is really going, I’ll be checking out.

My brother in laws grandfather had Alzheimer’s, and would usually alternate between frightened and confused, and violent.

What good is there to life if you can’t perceive what is going on?

Is that husband’s name Derek?

To answer the OP’s question. I would rather keep my mind.

I did the same. That was an epic response and I actually totally agree with it.

Depends on whether or not one has decent brains to begin with. If we actually live long enough to get old, neither will matter anyway.

I don’t mean being a scholar or being 90 and still being able to lift 4 days a week. I just mean knowing the basics and still being able to drive, walk around and fend for yourself
