Your College

The University of Southern California, graduated in '98 with a BS in Exercise Science, played football for 2 seasons, and had more fun than any one man should be allowed. Great academics, traffic, crime, and plenty of spoiled rich daddy’s girls to drool over.

I got a buddy at Darden right now. He loves it and has nothing but the best things to say about it. I just visited him and his wife over Memorial Day. They took me all over Charlottesville and I could not get over the fact that there were hot young women all over the place and they were either with ugly fucking dudes or, more often, were hanging out in groups of chicks with no dudes in sight. I vote UVa all the way. Plus, as a former lax player, I’m sure you’d dig being around a top program. (Or, if you’re good enough, you could play for them seeing as how you still have all your NCAA eligibility.)
Love to hear it. The lax program is a huge bonus (in addition to the football team since I didn’t get one at UCSB and I love football). I don’t have any more years left to play, but if I do head there, I will definitely be attending as many sporting events as possible (if I don’t get sidetracked by the beautiful packs of beautiful woman).
Really? Isn’t UCSB (one of the top programs) in the USLIA/MCLA? In college, I played in the Lone Star Alliance in the USLIA/MCLA myself. I always thought USLIA/MCLA participation left NCAA eligibility intact. But I’m also not the sharpest when it comes to the NCAA rules. If you have the gift and are physically up to it, I would seriously look into those NCAA rules. Just being on such a powerhouse team would be rad.

I doubled in Business Economics and English and now work for the international division of a large medical technology company. I think it’s my stunning good looks and brains to match that earned me the salary, but the diploma is printed on pretty nice paper, Dwight Schrut would be jealous.
I’m currently doing Business Economics myself. Although I doubt I’ll be as fortunate as you are right after graduating, it’s good to hear this. It provides a stark contrast to my mother telling me my major wont get me anywhere :D.
I’m doing business economics this september at the university of Greenwich (London), I have no idea what its about but its reassuring to hear how much you earn afterwards.

Im not sure my friends and I have collectively laughed so much as when they released UVA’s football schedule, and we played USC, and now this season we are playing at USC. I think USC won by 50 points or something last season, should be equally rough this season.

Don’t worry, I would say you have much better than a sporting chance at winning this year with all the sanctions. Fuck em, they deserve them if they cheated the system. Even though that’s my team, I still say that.

You’re around the corner from me. Just make sure you hit the 2.1 and start early (2nd year) on those applications (and internships), you’ll be raking it in.

Did my undergrad at Texas A&M. Attended three different schools around the country doing graduate work. Taught at others. A&M has the friendliest campus by far.

No.

Who here has taken their GRE or GMAT test? I have the option of taking either, but was leaning towards the GRE because of the slight emphasis on verbal/writing skills. Any thoughts from those who have taken these tests already or are planning to as well?

What sort of grad school are you interested in?

I’m about to be a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, double majoring in Economics and Japanese, minor in Spanish. Kinda scary that I’m gonna graduate next year because I don’t have a job offer waiting for me like Finance and Accounting majors that I know. Sigh… if only I could do it over.

Regardless, I’m glad to hear westcoast had success, and I’m hoping my other skillsets (language, etc), might help land a job.

Business School. I will starting my application this summer.

Don’t be scared because you didn’t choose Finance or Accounting, a few of my closest friends did, and even though they enjoyed having positions upon graduation, they hate what they are stuck doing now.

Personality, passion, confidence, intelligence, and the ability to utilize your connections are by far the most important tools to help you land a job. Your education and degree is obviously important, but nothing has a greater impact than your presence and impression during an interview.

I just took the GRE on Monday. Based on what you said about the emphasis on verbal/writing, I should have taken the GMAT. I majored in Physics and got WORKED on the verbal portion. No idea on the writing yet.

Hopefully my verbal scores will be ignored as whatever grad work I decide to do will be more science based anyway. Vocab shit ruins my life.

I don’t know if that helps at all. BTW- I have no idea where I plan on going, I just took it to get it out of the way and open up my options.

My apprehensions are focused on the short run right now which is DEFINITELY looking a bit more volatile than I’d like, but what can you do?

On the second part, I couldn’t agree more. I like to think I’m fairly articulate and can handle myself in pressure situations, and I’m working on feeling out a few options via some connections right now.

Good luck to you man, and congrats on the solid work fresh outta school.

THE University of Texas at Austin. Only going to be a junior, but it is a stereotypical Texas atmosphere. Great football, big dudes, and hot girls. Girls in the South own to be perfectly honest. I have loved my 2 years. We recently just reclaimed our throne as the number one party school…

I’m curious to know which B schools are accepting the GRE? It seems more and more are moving in that direction. I just picked up one of Kaplans study guide for it a few weeks ago. From what I’ve heard there isn’t a major difference in the amount language vs. quantitative emphasis between the two and if there is I would assume most B-schools would take that into account. I would just recomend making sure all the B schools your considering accept the GRE.

Apparently they don’t teach you how to respond to a question in its entirety there.

I went to IUP in Pennsylvania, majored in Exercise Science. I wish I’d done a real major, but the honors college I was a part of made it a great experience. That’s starting to fall apart at the administrative level, though, so your mileage may vary.

Grad school at Ball State in Biomechanics was great. There’s just enough to Muncie to make it an okay college town, though no way would I want to live there. The same thing is happening there as well administratively, though, ymmv.

I kill schools when I leave.
