I think one thing that msde 80s movies so cool was that there was a big difference in the quality of movies comapred to TV at the time.
I mean you could see stuff in the theater much more exciting than anything on TV…but now with computers the gap between movies and TV is narrower and many TV shows try harder to develop a long story arc and it isn’t just stand alone episodes that all feel the same.
I mean I love thinking about The A-Team and Knight Rider but even though I was just 9 when those shows started I still didn’t watch them every week. I’d miss episodes all the time. I won’t do that with Fringe or Dexter.
And video games…my god I haven’t even played a game in years but the way they are now! I’d love to send some new game console back to myself at age 12 with a bunch of cool games…especially a good Star Wars one.

Hell I miss the 80’s movies, because if they wanted to do some cool special effects, they actually had to do the shit!! If they wanted something to blow up, they had to blow it up!! These days half the movies are green screened or CGI’d so much that they’re hard to even watch. And unfortunately that even goes for Star Wars (if you even count the prequels as SW). During the last couple I’m not even sure why they hired actors, because nothing else was even remotely real.
And yes, to have played The Force Unleashed as a kid would have been beyond amazing!!

=) Those were awesome days. The sequel with Link was pretty awesome too.

True!
Try eating a pizza and watching the original The Thing.
I’ll bet if the new movie uses lots of CG it won’t be a problem…even get extra cheese on it!

As much Unprotected sex as I could have. That was living life on the edge.
Duran Duran is great…Phil Collins is one of those 80s things I don’t like.
Maybe that’s just me.

It is just you. To the best of my knowledge, nobody else here dislikes Phil Collins.
… or Rush
Man, I don’t want this thread to devolve into a Phil Collins war.
However,
His time has past, it’s wiggled on by us. His music didn’t hurt nobody. His complete abandonment of an actual drum kit withstanding, I think he was a good musician/songwriter.
Groovy kinda love

Those songs are in every brain of every person who ever lived in the 80’s man!
But he was behind the kit of one of the coolest, weirdest, forward-moving pop bands and he just didn’t get it right.
Peter Gabriel left (that was in the 70’s tho)
Mike and the Mechanics made an album, had a hit even.
I just don’t hate that guy that much. I’d make him dinner if he stopped by.
Oh, yeah…

I had a dream a few weeks ago that I woke up black and had a great afro.

Seriously though, we need to arrange a date we can meet up on Maury. We’d get a free trip to NY out of it.
You look like me in the future…it’s kinda freaky.

Not to anyone who knows how to use the search function.
Just please don’t repost the pics if you can figure out how to find them.
