You Don't Need Protein?

Well, he does make some valid points about raw fruits and vegetables being better than cooked. Other than that he’s just trying to sell his book.

He’s also NOT more muscular than most runners. He has an average runner’s build. Most of the “runners” who participate in road races and whatnot, even the Sears climb, are just fat and out of shape trying to get into shape. In your average 1000 person race, a 100 of the males will actually be in shape. I know people who run 3-5 miles 4-6 days a week and are fat and have been doing that for years.

He IS more muscular than ELITE runners, but that is what makes then unique and ELITE…genetics.

Few of these people are “muscular”: 2008 Pioneer Run - Images | moranphoto.net
And none of them actually performing well. Muscularity does not tend to lend itself to competitive running.

Hell, I was considered “jacked” by running standards when I was 5’5.5" and 140-45lbs…that’s about 10-20lbs heavier than most competitive runners at my height…and I would beat most of them. Of course that was before I turned to the iron and 20lbs ago…>:)

we’ll talk when he can out squat me.

That guy makes me look big.

i dont see why every fucking distance runner seems to think they know everything about nutrition. That and the fact that they feel they’re better than people who lift weights cause they work their heart, which is apparently the only muscle in the entire damn body for them.

damn, he moderates posts

This guy is marketing a product made from the acai berry, perhaps Mona Via or a similar product. I have friends that swear by the “unbelievable” power of this berry. Its basically a money making scam. The way that the companies sales are organized is a branch scheme similar to Mary K cosmetics. My friends invited me to this dealer recruiting session that involved samples and a very cleverly designed power point production.

The sales brochures had very nebulous information on the product that would sound fantastic to anyone that wasn’t actually interested in what they were consuming. During the dealer presentation they got to a section that displayed a small jet plane embellished with the Mona Via logo and captioned by “Black Diamond Level”. I asked the presenter how many people had gotten the jet. “No one yet.” The hummer? " Nobody yet." The sedan? " Well this one guy in chicago…"

I stood up and invited the other people there to come to my openhouse where I would be inviting people to help me market cocaine. I assured them the returns would be much more gratifying.
I’m laughing so hard right now. REALLY hard. actually lol.
That crap is huge here but its worthless over all. nice scam tho. lots of people here have devloped food alergies from it.

The guy is right!

Did I ever tell you guys that my truck runs without any gasoline?

He says “i am not consuming enough protein” But enough for what? He is implying that to not meet the accepted athletic recommended minimum (of 0.4-0.8g/lb LBM) then something happens - or you cannot perform as an athlete!

Not the fucking case.

What IS the case that without a high protein diet his scrawny 140lb body will be getting within the range i supplied above (which works out to 56g-112g/day) not to mention that the recommendation is NOT saying you cannot function as an athlete or even at a top level without the protein being met (many long distance athletes are deficient in dietary protein as they are obsessed with CHO - unlike us!) it is simply saying that it is not OPTIMAL.

That is the important fact he misses out there… not meeting the guideline is only not maximising potential recovery and muscle growth. It is not fatal.

Of course when discussing athletes there - i am not talking about physique athletes or strength/power athletes (from Bodybuilders to Sprinters), who will NOT be able to perform at the peak of their ability if they are deficient in protein.

Some skinny, weedy, sinewy stick like that - well, his performance is hardly ‘power, strength and size’ is it!

Because they are soooo jacked and ripped! Being a runner and in shape makes them an authority on the subject of building muscle. I stopped running when I was a kid and starting stealing cars to get around in fear of being like these morons!

Lemme guess… your truck has a diesel engine.

Actually an enzyme is a PROTEIN that catalyzes chemical reactions in the body…basic high school physiology.

So much of what he said is either not true or he is using it in the wrong context.

You can’t test food without cooking it. Cooking food destroys the enzymes/amino acids. Well, then he has a nice little scam going on. He can’t be proven wrong and a lot of fat people would love to look like him. It’s jerks like him that profit off of fat lazy people.

To be fair, it is clear to all that he does not consume protein. It’s NOT suprising in the least.

To be fair - i don’t fault someone that exploits lazy people. I fucking hate lazy people, fat or otherwise.

Lazy bastards…

sorry.

You only get amino acids from RAW fruits and vegetables? Where do they go if you cook them? I’m pretty sure you get exactly the same amino acids from intact functional enzymes as you do from denatured ones.

Ok, don’t know if any of you watched this guys video of him running the Sears Tower…but he is damn skinny. Here’s the link: Sears Tower Stair Climb 2007 - YouTube

Why does anyone care what he thinks? He doesn’t have much muscle at all. There are people who don’t lift at all who are bigger than that and his logic is ridiculous. He thinks he is “too muscular”?

I was bigger than that in high school…which is why I started lifting.
Good point. I don’t really ‘care’ perse, I just posting it for a laugh or two. You’re right though…

Wait…so this guy is saying that he doesn’t eat protein…but he eats enzymes, which are types of proteins.

And protein isn’t a chain of amino acid but enzymes are?

GENIUS

This was actually a clever lie. The way that they tell the calories a given food contains is to BURN IT. I’m assuming this is what he was referring to when he said uncooked food isn’t testable?

LOL “Come over and study this! I have too much muscle”. What a douchebag. Fuckin moron.
