Yogi's Random Training Thoughts

Give me until tomorrow evening to answer all of your questions. I am not overly concerned with anything or anyone who posts on here. When I visit, and when I am compelled to post, lately, it is because of this thread. I care as much as you do about all of this

Okay it’s a date.

You are bothered though. I’m not bothered about many things, I don’t join a forum for those things and then keep threatening to leave it.

What do you want from your forum experience?
Why are you here?

What I want from this forum experience is a fresh slap in the face of pure male testosterone everyday when I visit this site.

Part of the reason I haven’t left probably has something to do with the fact I am part Irish.

I am real. I have been guilty of this same behavior in my personal life. Threatening to leave, wanting to leave, but to hard to let go of something I used to love so much.

Why don’t you just hire @The_Mighty_Stu and tell him to charge you double? Then donate part of the fee to a worthy cause. Like the “Traumatized Natties Who Were Given False Hope By Me For Years Foundation” I’m thinking about setting up?

you are so weird. When will you realise I am completely, utterly indifferent to you? You could post in every thread on this site every day for the rest of your life, or you could literally die this second and I would not give either scenario a second thought.

It mildly amuses me that you think I in any way would care about your opinion of my physique/photos/log whatever.

You are an odd duck, for sure.

haha! Actually, the first part of that plan (hiring Stu) is actually not such a bad idea. Not sure I’m charitable enough for the second part…

you heard it here first! Markko’s doing a physique show! That’s way cool

It wouldn’t really be as quantifiable a goal as that, more just giving myself a timeframe (3 months or so) and seeing where I could end up.

And we do have beaches in Scotland! Seems unlikely I’d get to walk down one shirtless winking at chicks in January though…

urgh, why indulge him? Guy’s a cock, and now we have to read his boring answers to those questions.

Cuz im thinking about hiring him

He is gonna be all up in your thread if I egg him on or not!

well at least if you aren’t satisfied with the results he’ll pay you a fee and leave the site forever!

Everybody wins in that scenario, although personally I think I’d be inclined to hire an actual coach who has a track record of coaching people…

And FYI, it’s Skip Hill I’m thinking of working with. I’ve emailed with him a little and holy shit the questionnaire he sends you is so in depth! It’s really, really interesting.

You can’t go wrong with Skip Hill. He’d be my distance pick by a mile. Earliest timeline for me I’m looking at is one to two years from now. I’m nowhere near big enough to be able to get stage ready and look decent. I’d probably shed another 20 lbs if not more, which would leave me around 163 lbs at 5 9’ or so which isn’t very muscular. Plus there’s learning how to pose, etc, and I want to get a few meets in at 181 lbs. Once it’s time to add some muscle, though, seems kind of a logical time to maybe focus on aesthetics for a year or two before going back to PL at a higher weight class. I mean, when I get to the point where I’d be 180 or so stage ready chances are I’d be walking around close to 198 lbs at a decent level of leanness which I think is a decent place for me to aim for.

Have a peek over at Rob’s thread. I think he is 5’8" and was down to 140(ish)lbs looking beastly.

Rob’s 5’ 8" in a pretty massive stiletto (sorry, Rob)! Pretty sure he’s 5’ 5"

Still, @MarkKO contest condition at 160lbs at your height would be scary. Not to be a downer but (and I could be wrong here) contest weight of 180lbs at 5’ 9" is huge.

Yeah, @robstein is 5’5

LOL! It’s true, 4 inch heels are tough for my stubby legs tough, which is why I stick to bodybuilding and not physique :joy:

I’m actually 5’4", when I was in college my mom kept telling me I had one growth spurt left…still waiting for it…

I’m sure it seems like that now, but nothing makes you look yuuuuuge like being shredded. Typically during a prep as I lose more weight, people ask how much I’ve put on.

Here’s a pic I have from my show a few weeks ago, me against another lightweight. Technically, lightweight is <165lbs, the guy next to me was 164.8 that day, I was 140lbs. He was about 5’8 and looked really, really good, his chest was absolutely massive. Just goes to show that even at 5’8-5’9, 163lbs at that level of body fat looks pretty damn impressive.

@Yogi1 you’re right man, if you’re on stage at 180lbs at 5’9", that’s damn huge!

True contest condition and the corresponding stats are a shock to 99.99% of the people who have never stepped on stage.

I always say that there’s a range of heights you usually see in each weight class, and if you’re outside that range, more often than not, you’ll look out of place. Obviously there are exceptions, but when I did the Hercules in 2011, there was one guy in the Middleweights who must have been at least 5’11 if not 6’0 tall. I’m 5’8, so I figured I’d be at the taller end of the class. Luckily, the guy’s conditioning let him into the top 5, but in every line up pic, he just looks lanky - even though he is sporting decent musculature.

That’s just how the sport goes. It’s visual in nature, and while some things work for you, others work against you.

lol - Any “coach” who doesn’t require a decent amount of information specifically about you current situation, background, injuries, allergies etc isn’t one I would ever feel good about recommending.

Oops, brain fart this morning; for some reason I thought Rob and I were close in height. I need more sleep…

That does make me feel like a bit less of a fat ass though.

Food for thought. I’m ignorant in such matters. It’s actually the opposite of a downer, though because I take it to mean I can do a few meets at 181 and then work on getting stage ready.
