WTF, No Suit Fits!

I do not know what a power suit is. Can you plug your iPod into it? A good suit is not tight - it lays well and moves with you. I think you are looking for a power suit but expecting a deconstructed, I am worn by Zack Ephron, type suit. Two different things.

A well tailored suit will look better, at any price, than one that does not fit. “Fit” here is not tight. In fact, at your build you may not even look like you are athletic. (Suits hide mens’ figures well. Think about it, they accentuate the shoulders, hide the gut and draw the eye, via the tie, to your face. Pleats cover your ass.) The latest fashion in suits is a snug fit but a good suit should not scream the year and season you buy it. This is not the same suit you see on male models and young(er) actors at the moment (an earlier thread talked about how male models where suit jackets smaller than 40 now at 6ft. Anyone with some muscle on them will look silly in this.) If you really want a great lifetime type suit - one that flows and moves with you- ask around about tailors, go to higher end suit shops - Brooks Brothers, for example - and expect to have multiple fittings and spend enough money.

OR, follow the advice already given by me and others in this thread and the multiple like it in the achieves.

PS If you do not know how to get a suit to fit you probably do not have much reason for a power suit. If you are going to work somewhere where such a suit is needed, ask around at the office.

Some good advice there. Thanks.

Do you agree with this suit fitting video at 1:19 ?

That’s the tightness I am trying to achieve. When it’s not tight like that, it looks okay but if I sit down that chest region opens up. I can use it like a cup holder. If I do pull it tight like that, it looks retarded (see earlier picture i posted).

I really cannot believe I watched that. Crap.

Okay, the guy seems to know what he is talking about. I think it depends on how many buttons you have on your suit coat (2, 3, 4, double breasted?) on how it will fit an athletic frame. I could not find a jacket that rested flat on my chest without looking like I was wearing a tent elsewhere. So, mine folds a little bit - but that helped keep the jacket size and overall bulk down a bit.

I remember the main character from American Psycho had a decent build and wore lots of suits (it has been years since I have seen this movie). You could see how they fit him. Another possibility, The scene in the first Daniel Craig 007 movie where he tries on his first tux. That might give you an idea.

You are going to have to accept some “bagginess” in the jacket around the waist, most likely.

Okay, I am taking my toys home now. Good luck.
Good movie references. I’ll check it out. I remember Daniel Craig looked well in his suit. I should check that out to see how much fabric he’s got around the waist.

I have this problem too (in a different way - female suits have tiny armholes and no space for lats). You’re just going to have to make good friends with a tailor. A good tailor can do WONDERS for your wardrobe.

buy one with horizontal stripes.

i went to Men’s Wearhouse the other day, just looking for some formal stuff. all the jackets were really snug around my arms so i ended up just going with a vest which is cool cause my arms are fine in that, but the under shirts will still probaly be a bitch.

That’s why you don’t wear a shirt under the vest.
good call
