Worst Anxiety and Depression (Test Withdrawal)

I recently (Feb 2nd) had my first test shot from my primary doc (200mg Test Cyp) This was after giving a-gel a spin for on optimistic week and two weeks of pure hell. All he can do for me is once a month, but I knew beforehand from reading that this would not be suitable at all long term.

I figured it was just a stepping stone to see how well I felt before getting a referral to see an endocrinologist. Test is the answer to so many of my problems, and depression was at the top of the list. It was obliterated a day or two after my injection along with other physical problems I am plagued with.

After about a week I felt it slip away and I am now in the most horrible mental place I have ever been. I have an appointment with an endo on march 8th, but it’s like I’m just counting the minutes down in my own little solitary confinement cell. Calling three times a day to check for cancellations, and I even had them send the doc a message to see if he can squeeze me in sooner.

It’s like a light was turned on after the shot and now it’s darker than ever. I feel like I’m acting like a little bitch calling the doctors office every day, and even whining about it in this thread I have started. This is not me. How in the world can any doctor think that once a month could remotely do the trick and not send everyone who ran with it to the mental ward. Maybe it’s just me.

I had blood work done Oct 2nd last year, and all I know right now is my test was 309. I have requested a copy and will be getting it withing the next few days. I have seen others post their tests here, and I know I couldn’t be in a better place to get some feedback and advice regarding my TRT.

When I made the appointment the nurse had assured me that this doc could help me beyond once a month, but how much experience he has, and how much control he’s willing to give me is still a mystery. I have to do some more reading so I’m well prepared for our first meeting. BTW I’m 40, and my avatar is a total goof. Not me. I’ll be be on the lookout for my tests and try to find a way to post them. Thanks in advance.

Could you ask your primary doctor in the meantime to at least treat you according to the dosing instructions that come with the testosterone? Once a month is not even in the insert.

What was the problem with the gel? Maybe the dose wasn’t right. Do you have any left you could use to tie you over while waiting?

You should have had LH/FSH tested before been given any TRT.

T-gel did not absorb? Could be a thyroid problem.

I received my tests and only got tested for TT. 309.3 [280-1100] It states in the paperwork that “All labs are wnl except for low testosterone” per my primary doc. When I saw him requesting blood work he had mentioned that my thyroid could be the problem, but that was tested normal. .808 [.350-5.000]
Is there a specific name for the best test to cover all the bases regarding TRT? I would imagine the endo will want to do additional tests, and I want to make sure I get the right one in case I need to go elsewhere.

My doc prescribed 4 pumps of agel, but my insurance only covered 2. It still cost me $150. I feeling better but after about 4 or 5 days it was horrible. I was tired all the time and my manhood was totally inoperable. I think it was just enough to shut down my own production.

The shot worked well but it didn’t last long. 8 days and I knew I had to call a specialist. Lifted my depression, made all my aching joints feel better, and after leaving the gym I felt like a champ like I used to just a few years back. I think a major contributor to my low test is the fact that I’ve had 6 surgeries in the past 4 years.

Would a more in depth blood test show something that would change the approach to fixing what ails me? The testosterone injection cleared the board of all my symptoms pretty good. I’m anxious to see this endo and get something started asap.

Have them check your estradiol . My dr had me injecting 2 ml every 2 weeks and my estradiol was 65 . My testosterone was 1100 but with the high estradiol I felt horrible.

We know you’re not Bill Phillips posting on here.

Don’t have high expectations that an Endo or Urologist will not be a witch doctor.

Surgeries and their causes can damage your thyroid function via adrenal fatigue. See the thyroid basics sticky.

I saw my endo today and got a glimpse of how this machine operates. I was under the false assumption that I was going to see someone who would have an interest in finding a possible source of my symptoms. Just another company man who made it very clear that my symptoms were irrelevant, and the results of the rudimentary bloodwork I had was enough for him to decide to look no further. He went as far as to determine the cause of my loss of libido to me being depressed. Chicken before the egg…

He did put in an order for an FSH/LH test, but when I inquired about doing further testing for my thyroid, he told me it was unnecessary because my TSH was within normal levels. When I suggested getting a broader scope of tests to get a bigger picture, he stated that would be going beyond the standard procedure.

I need to get more bloodwork done, but I need to find a doc who’s head isn’t crammed inside the box. I have a feeling that I’ll just be butting heads with narcissistic personality disorders if I proceed my search for help thinking a specialist is going to be the answer.

So I’m right back in a holding pattern after doing a complete 360 with nothing to show for it other than my first rodeo with a specialist. I’m currently lacking any sort of network that could help me throw out some feelers to snag a referral for a good doc, but I did get the name of a doc who is prescribing testosterone from my pharmacist last week. That might be a doc who thinks outside the box. I’ll have to make a call.
