Not even close. A true champion would NEVER lose to the likes of Datsik.

I hope this was sarcasm. That fight was 10 years ago, you do know that right?

I will admit he has his ups and downs, but on a good day with his head in the right place I would put him up against anyone.

Come on man, it was 10 years ago. Did you miss that part? The guy was 19 then, get a clue and give me a break. I never said he was one of the best stand up fighters 10 years ago.

Not really.
We’re talking about the best here. Do you think Roy Jones would be mentioned here if he lost against a total loser like Datsik?

Anyway, you’ll see his (nontheless good and crisp) standup dismantled by Fedor soon enough.[/quote]

I’m right here.
You know how Tyson’s reputation was tarnished for losing to Douglas, how Lennox was flogged for Rahman?
And the Datsik match showed that ten years ago, Arlovski was far from champion material. Roy Jones on the other hand was undefeated in the ring ten years ago. If he lost to a total loser in that period, he wouldn’t be mentioned here.
People expect for the ultra champ to be undefeated as a pro, or be very close to a perfect record. And to be consistent.

Fedor is the big MMA champ because he never lost. And also because he literally whipped the floor with Sylvia, who in turn defeated Arlovski quite skillfully. Doesn’t that mean something?

You’re opinion isn’t the only one that matters, and since this topic can only be based upon opinions, yours arent any more valid than mine. Besides your reasoning is flawed, and I call BS on Roy not being mentioned if he had a bad day and lost to a can 10 years ago when he was a kid. He still would be a badass to everyone but you I guess.

If you would like everyone to adhere to your “rules” as to who can and cant be mentioned based upon a set criteria, then by all means, start your own thread so we will all know what we are allowed to post.

You cant argue someone out of their opinion so get over it. Arlovski is one of the best stand up fighters in the world TODAY. Someones record isnt the only factor, if it were then we should just find the guy with the most wins and least losses in history and end the thread.

Hard to say given the various sanctioning rules. I know he’s not the best but I’ve always enjoyed watching Ramon Dekkers fight.

Anderson Silva. He seriously makes fighting a work of art, no wasted movements, everything precisely executed patiently.

His style looks like a real-life instructional video. …

I don’t know enough about all the striking arts to give a worthwhile opinion on this, but to those of you more knowledgeable than me, where would you rank the late Andy Hug on a list of best strikers of all time?
