World of Warcraft Addiction

Its all true. It was true even when i was heavily into gaming.

I loved ad&d, magic the gathering and warhammer. But the computer games just made it so much worse, the first two warcrafts, diablo, command and conquer/red alert… the weirdest memory was my mum, dad and the principle of my school coming to the highschool computer lab at 7.30pm to get me and the 30 other boys (and the cleaner) and put a stop to us playing after school. A move we countered by being the “technical” students that got asked to fix em… Which we just learnt to play instead of going to class.

nowadays, at 25, ill goto a bar and play pool around 7pm… grab a bite to eat at 11, then just as everyone is rolling into the clubs we will roll out and off to the inet cafe to scream at the 16 year old boys who we know by name, drink and play counterstrie, starcraft, diablo 2, day of defeat… its warped our fragile little minds… then wonder home by 9am. Strangely enough, its safer, more fullfilling, more social, cheaper, better for my health (none/less drugs) … its just weird.

But it can only be maintained long term during summer. =)[/quote]

jesus christ thats the most pathetic thing ive ever heard

man if i could only think of something to get 8 million idiots to give me their money every month.

and i laughed so hard when i read this in that article…

“Of course, even as I write this, I’m not completely convinced. The anonymity of the Internet and digital worlds allows for amazing incivility. And in mid-November I watched one of the most devious acts I’ve ever seen in a MMOG. A guild decided to hold an online memorial service for a player who’d died in real life. In a macabre but heart-felt gesture, the player’s character was accessed and brought out to a lake in an area known as Winterspring. A rival guild caught word of the event and ambushed the other players, killing the deceased person’s character first and then killing everyone else in the guild. The rival guild then posted a video of the entire event online.”

If anyone cares I found the link to the funeral ambush that he’s talking about in the article. I don’t know what’s funnier…the fact that he ambushed a funeral or the fact that everyone got their asses handed to them.

Holding an e-funeral was retarded to begin with. But ambushing the funeral was just plain cold hearted. Either way, Im still laughing.

Wow. I thought I was weird for spending a total of like sixteen days on Guild Wars over a year and a half.

It’s nice to see there are people worse than me. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe I’m a cold hearted asshole, but I laughed. When I watched the video they made of it. They put it on Youtube.

Here is my PC, it owns. IT OOOOWNNNNSSSS!!!11!1one

I had 310 days played over my WoW characters.

It made a severe dent on my life, I barely ate anything during my main growth spurt from 15-17, and only managed to get to the height of 5’6" when I was supposed to be 5’10".

One day my mind just clicked and I broke free of that soul sucking piece of shit game, I went from 98lbs (yes 98lbs) and now im sitting at 140lbs and aiming for 180-190.

I am finding it VERY hard for me to gain size on my legs though, they just turned into tooth picks after 310 days of sitting down.

Fuck WoW, it can be worse than most drugs for some people.

BOOOOOOOM HEADSHOT!!!

and WoW has been out for only 2 years. So out of what, the 750 days since launch you spent 310 of those playing? Holy shit.

I still play, have 70 days worth of play time on my character. Since these days I play for a set amount of time a week, its either WoW or the Wii, but I can tell you right now that other gamers that mock people that play MMO’s are morons.

My roommates literally spend 20+ hours a week each playing a dynasty in NCAA football/backetball on the 360, add into that some call of duty 3 and Gears of War and they spend probably twice as much time gaming than I do.

Its fun, I enjoy it, I play it when it doesn’t interfere with my real life obligations. The expansion comes out on Tuesday, looking forward to it, it is supposed to lower the playtime at the end-game which is gonna be real nice, I hate 4 hour dungeons.

Does it require you to buy the expansion? Or will you be able to take advantage of this without the expansion?

You need the xpac to go into the new dungeons in Outlands. You can theoretically hit the new level cap without it, but it will be a nightmare to say the least. If you aren’t sure, just hold off for a bit and see what the endgame looks like. If it sucks I am going to quit once and for all, no more 4-5 hour raids for me.
