I guess theoretically you could bump up your ranking by arranging a friendly with (and beating) Peru, Scotland or Luxembourg every fortnight.

The US did arrange a friendly against Scotland a couple of months ago and drew 1-1. Maybe we should be in the top 10 as well?

Still, I’m rooting for Argentina and Spain. Argentina because they play the best football and Spain because they always fail to live up to expectations.

I’m part Scot, so I can’t bring myself to be as insulting about Scottish football as both the traditional rivalry and the English side of me demands but really, I can’t think of a single excuse for you to be ranked below Congo!

That said, and I’m sure it’s already been said a thousand times, your ‘next’ generation of young players finally looks quite promising as was the performace against Italy.

I might be completely irrational (or delusional) but I believe we (Croatia) will do well on this World Cup.

And for the first time we have a half-decent manager who’s not a circus showman or a senile germanophile.

We have a side without any big names, but we did well in the qualifications, defeating Sweden twice.

If only Klasnic could find some of his scoring form from Werder Bremen…

Croatia are always class and will be tough opposition for anybody.

I think we have turned the corner after several years of rock bottom. And the 5-1 win over Bulgaria was damn impressive - shame we’re not in Germany!

But given that France, Italy and Ukraine are in our group it would be one hell of an achievement to qualify for Euro 2008.

As for England, if they can get the best out of Gerrard then they’ve got a chance.

That is one unlucky group! Shit. Ah well… Roll on WC2010!

How many guys out here fall in love with a Brazillian woman, speaking of gorgeous Brazillian women in the stands during World Cup…

I’m one.

Only a few hours to go until kick-off of the Champions League Final.

SO excited but I just heard Campbell is starting instead of Senderos :frowning:

Aww sod it. C’mon arsenal!!

Me.
They just seem a good mix of tan, ass, the latin thing, and christ knows what else.
I love them all.
Lots.

Well we are getting pretty excited about the WC over here in Oz. It’s the first time we’ve made it since 1974, and of course Australia gets dumped into one of the hardest groups with Brazil, Croatia and Japan.

To do well we have to have all of our top players fit as unfortunately we don’t have the depth of other countries. SO that means Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka, Tim Cahill and others can’t get injured, which isn’t reassuring when you see Kewell limping off in the FA Cup final last weekend, plus Cahill is recovering from a knee injury.

But we made it, our main stumbling block has been actually qualifying and now that we have got through that the boys can show what they can do, after all we did beat England 3-1 a few years ago…

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Ben,

Trust Harry Kewell to all of a sudden be good again in a WC year after two years of injury and being shit.

Oz have that same thing as the US which is a history of producing both great athletes and great competitors but it’s never really translated into football results.

Tim Cahill is a class act - I met his brother a little while ago and my friends (Millwall fans and subsequently Cahill worshippers) still hang out with him. Top blokes, the Cahills.

Doesn’t Oz have to first qualify from their group and then have a play-off with Asia or sommink? A bit unfair when most of your players are half way around the world and have to keep coming back mid-way through a tough season in Europe.

lol… You can’t use that friendly win over England as a marker - We had Danny Murphey, Francis Jeffers, Gareth Barry and Sean Davis playing!

NEWS JUST IN:
Sky Sports News just said Owen is 100% fit and looking sharp. Sweet…

Ooh, and they are sure Rooney will be in top shape. Super-sweet…

Hey 1-Pac,

I will say this, ever since my main man David Seaman left…it just has not been the same. (I was a keeper in College) D. James seems like a good one though.

Hi mate,

With that last statement you probably made every Englishman spit their tea out upon reading! His nickname is ‘Calamity James’ as he often makes collosal f**k-ups when he’s not under any pressure whatsoever. Stays up playing Playstation till 4 in the morning the night before matches and is crazy about self-help books. Great shot-stopper though, but it’s like saying a guy with one leg who has a great right hook should go in against De La Hoya…

I don’t know anyone in this country that wants him as No1 England keeper.

Props to Seaman though - The pony-tailed porn-star looking God that he was for both club AND country.

I was at that US-Scotland game. It was a good atmosphere for a friendly. Some good banter in the stands (and 11 scottish friends kept it from being anything more than that. damn beligerent wegies).
A 1-1 away draw with half our starters off is an alright result, but eventually the US is gunna have to earn that #5 ranking and take care of business.

as for the world cup, as good as donovan is, what seperates the best teams is a dominant player who refuses to lose. ronaldinho, zidane and rooney (gerrard has it as well, watch out if hes allowed to play) all have that quality, and thats why they are the favorites.

IMO its the biggest reason argentina havent and wont win with this generation.

Ronaldinho knocking over terry to score in the champs league is one of my favorite plays of all time. he just decided he was going to score, no tricks, just will.

in a couple hours we find out if henry has that quality, could be a fantastic game.

My friend… why do you think we like him(James) so much!!!

Look at it this way, you could have Tim(Fuck off!! ass head %%%#%$%$)Howard between the pipes.

I’m sure Peter Beagrie and Jon Champion will loooove it when CRAZY Howard defeats the woogs in the Cup!!

One freaking lucky direct by Ronaldhino and he went home a goat for WC 2002. And he was the Arsenal keeper to boot.

Champions final on the way and Henry looks awesome in front of the home crowd (his home of course).

Go Gunners!

David Seaman…Ron Jeremy never in the same place at the same time…Hmmmmmmmmm one to think about.

Half-time and he’s doing okay so far.

Sing with me ‘1-0 to the Arsenal, 1-0 to the Arsenal, 1-0 to the Arsenal,1-0 to the Arsenal!’

We’ll prob concede 5 now in the second half!

A heartbraker to be sure.

And, WTF? Lehmann sent off. . .
in the first half??

Playing a man down for 60 min. killed the defense in the end.
Shame.
