It just irked me that he celebrated so wildly when it was saved. He should have fucked off down the tunnel.
Anyhow, he did well (from their perspective) and sacrificed his place in a semi-final to allow his team a fighting chance. Unsporting, but genial in the same stride.
It was this very irk factor that I had also when seeing him celebrate when he should be ashamed and should have ran into hiding with his tail between his legs, that caused me to disrespect Uruguay.
I disagree it was genial. A dishonorable way to defend your team’s position and secure victory.
If we, as a society, encourage the “win at all costs” attitude, this is a weak society I don’t want to be a part of.
Sports should not reflect politics.
Lest we have no where else to find true displays of honor, glory and strength.
The meaning of the word athlete is: One who has endured to the end and succeeded.
Cheating is not endurance, it’s a cop out.
Cop out is not success, it’s a failure.
And to me, at least, this one act of shame erased 119 minutes of good play.
We shouldn’t need FIFA rules to show us what is good from bad at his age.
I really hope no one dies because of the loss… And i really mean it… I really hope people in ghana/africa realize that is just a game and not worth taking your life.
Haha I was at work during the game so I didn’t know what happened until I got home, but now that I read the news and watched the pictures I can’t stop laughing, it’s just so fucking genius.
Why is Suarez getting shit? get the fuck over it, this is the world cup, this is the pride of a country against the pride of another country.
The hand gave Ghana a penalty and a red card to Suarez, Ghana fucked it up, are you going to blame Uruguay for that too?
I could agree if Ghana had gotten nothing from it and Suarez was playing in the next game but that wasn’t the case and Ghana only have themselves to blame.
all the people bashing suarez…um, hello, because of him his team went on to win wtf. I didnt see any of you talking shit on ghana when they were up 2-1 on the USA and they kept diving to the ground and laying down for no reason to run the clock out. I’d say thats much worse that stopping a ball with your hand. Laying down for no reason to run the clock out is for homo’s. Thats why this country will never embrace soccer, too much pussy shit going out.

Get ready for Germany to upset Argentina tomorrow, yes I said it.
Actually, I want more handballs, diving, acting, and dishonorable wins.
Let’s see if we can still call it a beautiful game when every champion is “playing the game to win.”
If what Suarez did is ok, stop the hypocrisy and let’s have anarchy and see whether we feel the same way about sports and our mad attachment to it.
I, for one, advocate freed drugs in sports and cheating made legal.
Let’s see American football players and runners blow their heads up in the field with lethal cocktails of PEDS to achieve that WIN for the pride of their country and their team.
Would you still feel proud then?.. sure, that is what self-deceit is for.
If a win by blatant cheating is glory let’s legalize it.

I feel for Ghana and I think that its an ugly way to win, but I agree, you play to win.
And you can’t just make rules for a situation where a field player blantaly stops the ball with his hands to save a goal. That wouldn’t make sense, especially when there are rules already in place - hand ball in penalty box, red card and pk.
I’m not saying its fair, but it is one way to do it, and given the circumstances (last minutes of game) it was a pretty smart move. Mario Kempes did the same thing against Poland. Still leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
That’s what Maradona gets for being a douchebag. Earlier this year he refused to go on stage at a press conference while Mueller was on the podium, saying he didn’t want to be seen with a ball boy.
