Today lines up to be a great day in soccer, and I think the Netherlands will really give Brazil a run for their money. Although the second game doesn’t look sexy on paper, I am actually just as excited to watch it, as both teams will be extremely hungry and should play wide open. I’ll be rooting for Ghana since they knocked out the USA, have to give respect where respect is due. Plus Forlan just looks like a douchebag.
Netherlands over Brazil
Ghana over Uruguay
I don’t care what the scoreboard says. You were right.
What a terrible way to lose.
I can’t believe a blatant hand ball only results in a penalty shot. That was just straight cheating.
Like a previous poster has said already, Uruguay without Suarez is going to be smoked by the Dutch.

Ghana deserved to win that game… I’m not familiar with the players on ghana but number 3 is gonna kill himself. What a terrible way to go.
Fucked up I know but when there was a camera that panned to an African crowd go from happy and cheering and then into complete silence and despair? Hysterical.
That was complete shit. Uruguay stole that game and had the nerve to celebrate like they’d won it. Gyan is the man but shouldn’t have put so much into that shot at 121 mins. W/e, the dutch will push their shit in soon enough.

Not a satisfying victory for Uruguay. I’ve often thought about what I would do in Suarez’s shoes, but I guess using his hands was the only thing.
At least Uruguay without Suarez will be destroyed by the Dutch.
I don’t blame him, you either take a red and give up a penalty kick or concede the goal and lose… I’d rather put the pressure on them to score on the penalty.

Not really.
Looking at the replay he could have used his head which would have require absolute guts because it would have hit his face.

There was no way he could have gotten his head to that ball, even the commentators stated that while viewing the replay. In the end, Suarez made the best move possible, and gave his team another chancee to stay alive. Gyan simply couldn’t put it away when he had the chance.
Ultimately it was a smart move by Suarez, as his team lives to play another day. Props also to the keeper for Uruguay, he showed great anticipation, and won them the game in the PKs.
best fucking game!
It goes to show that sometimes you gotta break the rules.
absolutely heartbreaking. I feel terrible for Ghana

According to the picture above ( look at the legs; not even an attempt to jump - he just plants himself like a goalkeeper.)
I say he could have stretched enough to get his face in the way.
I agree with thefederaalist: Suarez = gheysha move.
The fact that Suarez CELEBRATED from the sidelines on his way to the tunnel when Gyan missed the penalty makes him a right twat.
In instances like that, where the foul prevents an otherwise 100% goal, they should just give the fucking thing. This happened at a club game that I played in, and I could’ve murdered the guy who gave away the penalty.
In any case, he should be banned for more than just the one game. But on the other hand, he made a split second decision and single handedly (get it?) got his team back into the team.
Henry would be proud.
Ghana played well too - really really well. I hope Gyan can pick himself up from this and continue to play. Unfortunately, this will haunt him every night before he goes to sleep, for the rest of his life.
Are people seriously giving Saurez shit? I don’t like the guy as a player, but seriously, what the fuck else would you do? Don’t blame him, blame FIFA rules or some shit.

That is what I think also.
In this instance, this rule teaches you can cheat and get away with being a villain to being a hero.
Urugay didn’t win and hopefully, like France, will be done away with by the hands of Justice.
GO IRELAND!

Not blaming him. Calling him an asshole, but I still understand why/how he would do it. Yes, rules should be amended - quite blatently, if not for that foul then there was 100% chance of a goal.
It just irked me that he celebrated so wildly when it was saved. He should have fucked off down the tunnel.
Anyhow, he did well (from their perspective) and sacrificed his place in a semi-final to allow his team a fighting chance. Unsporting, but genial in the same stride.

Aye - this was one of the better games of the world cup. Both teams tried hard, battled and kept attacking. I wish more teams had done this.
You play to win the game.
How about that Forlan though?

A definite contender for player of the tournament so far. Without him Uruguay would not have even gotten out of their group.
BEST GAME OF THIS CUP!!!
i feel sad for Ghana, but holy fuck they should erect a monument in honor of Suarez, the guy saved the team from losing in like 0.1 seconds.
