!!!VIVA ESPAÃ?A!!!

The Portuguese goalie did one hell of job, IMHO he was clearly the best player of the match.

Absolutely. Did you see how distraught he looked at the end? He, their best player on the night, couldn’t do anything about their offensive shortcomings and that must have frustrated the hell out of him. Horrible that he pulled his weight but the rest of them didn’t seem to try.

Or was it that they tried but were just not good enough? I couldn’t really tell.

Oh you mean this? I agree, what a puss move.

watch out for ghana

I am not a fan of Ronaldo. Good for Spain.

Agreed. Too much flash, flair, and media off the field, in conjunction with too many poor performances on it.

Podolski and Ozil are my favorite to watch, although that is aided by my German blood.

Friday and Saturday should produce some great football, and I think the less sexy teams (Ghana etc.) have the potential to produce just as much entertainment.

I thought Ghana played great in the last match. So I agree, that should be fun to watch.

Nederlands v. Brazil should also prove to be a great game - different styles of play, lots of skill.

I have waves of nausea thinking about Arg v. Germany (what else is new).

And Spain, well, after watching them today I’m pinning them for the final. I love their passing game - just like Barca, go figure.

Argentina has Messi, probably the best player in the tournament. Messi is unreal. Unlike Ronaldo, Messi produces GOALS. Fuck the footwork, the guy can dribble past so many it’s incredible.

And that 3rd goal by Tevez against Mexico?! What the fuck! Amazing.

Argentina needs to play AT LEAST as well as they did against Mexico - more like dominating Mexico - to stand a chance against Germany. I really think this will be one of the best matches of the Cup this year.

Germany is good but the match against England was not the best representation of how Germany would play against a Brazil or Argentina (when either team is on top of their game), because England was shit during that match.

I’d love to see how the German defense handles Tevez-Messi. I really think Argentina could go all the way.

Masch is right about Brazil-Holland (I hate calling them Nederlands!). Great game for sure.

My Picks:

Netherlands over Brazil

Ghana over Uruguay

Germany over Argentina

Spain over Paraguay

i agree except i think Argentina will beat the Germans. (and if they do i win the cup 130 euro  )

Though I hope Ireland wins the whole thing, I am going to say Messi will go off against the Germans. He will
not be held scoreless this game.

I agree with you on Spain; I really hope you’re right about Holland; I think the German D has holes which the big guns of Argentina will not be slow to exploit; and Uruguay will beat Ghana (not that that one matters). That Holland-Brazil game should really be something, though.

Brazil over Holland (2-1)
Uruguay over Ghana (2-0)
Argentina over Germany (3-2)
Spain over Paraguay (3-0)

x2.

Not sure about the scores, but this is where my thoughts are too.

Whenever I see Germany and Argentina play, and I see their young exciting players Messi and Podolski, I f’n want to cry.

As a fan of Italy, who was disgraceful and deserved to be eliminated by Slovakia, all I do is think that we left home Balotelli (19) and Rossi (23), the most exciting strikers since Baggio. Nasty dribblers with range and the ability to beat double teams.

Then I look at the geriatric ward that was the midfield: old, injured grandfathers past their prime… And I think we could have had Davide Santon (18) in there. He could not have played worse than those who did.

Then Lippi leaves out Quagliarella until the 2nd half of the last game and all he does is score a goal, have another disallowed, and have yet another shot blocked by the keeper.

I think for 2014 Italy will be awesome, but if they had played the younger guys this time, we probably would not have won but a) we would not have been shameful and b) our future stars would have had World Cup experience.

That’s all. I’ll go back to despairing now.

BTW, what was done to Ireland is a disgrace and one of the most unfair things that has ever happened in sports. So maybe I shouldn’t complain too much.

Messi > Ronaldo, easily. Messi actually passes the ball.

Messi is also humble, whereas Ronaldo is an arrogant, classless schmuck. ( spitting at the camera after Portugal’s loss, pretty much sums up this guy’s character…what a disgraceful act of sportsmanship ) In my opinion, he is very over rated. Messi is just a better all round player, a more explosive player than Christina Ronaldo will ever be.

oh my picks…

Brazil > Holland
Germany > Argentina
Spain > Paraguay
Uruguay > Ghana

Yeah I saw that, I guess he did that on purpose, didn’t really think too much about it. What a prick. But yeah just watching him play, he just looked like a bitch to me. The way he handles himself just reeks of arrogance, like he wants everything on a silver fucking platter.

You are spot on.

And yes, of course he spit on the camera and on us on purpose.
I did not miss that either.

Expect nothing less of him then to pass the buck for his failures and to bite on the hands that feed him.

Worst character in sports, in my opinion.
