BTW, WTF is with the Irish hating the French? Remember Wolf Tone, monument in Cork? Those were FRENCH troops he was bringing, every one of them desperate to force-feed the English frogs legs. Everyone in Europe seems to hate everyone else.

(though I’ll admit do get caught up in it - as an England fan, I’m against Germany, France and Argentina)
Google Henry Handball and you will see.
Oh my. Almost as good as Maradonna’s Hand of God in the 80’s. Soccer really needs to introduce video replays like hockey.

^ until that hand ball ireland was pretty much fine with france, now we want them to lose.

All I have to say is thank God Argentina won. It wasn’t pretty, but its a win.

WTF Robert Green? HAH! That’s the typical English way. USA wasn’t looking too bad tho. Center defenders were solid. Bocanegra, not so much.

Just got back from a week long trip to the east coast, been watching both games this morning (because of the time difference) and can’t wait to see Germany at 11. Ghana is looking good against Serbia, but I think teams are to well prepared for their first couple games, and pulling out a win is a tough task.

As a USA fan, I’ll take a draw against England any day.

My flight home yesterday was delayed 4 times, had the transfer airport changed 2 times, but my brother and I were able to catch the USA game in a packed airport bar. I have to say that seeing everybody come together and cheer for their country, whether they understand the game or not, is an awesome experience and is what makes the World Cup such an awesome and powerful event.

I love how everyone brings up historic wars and facts when discussing modern sports… or anything for that matter, haha. Doesn’t make any sense to me.

Why do Afghans hate Americans? Those were OUR Stinger missiles that helped get rid of the Soviets!!!

That’s always the best, just goes to show the power of sports to bring people together.

I left the game on while I ran down to the beach during my vacation this past week. When I returned, my grandmother who was staying with us was on the phone with pest control, requesting an agent to come out and search for wasps.

Feeling bad for cracking up on the inside, I explained to her what the noise was. I still don’t think she understands why any sports fan in their right mind would blow on a horn all game, but I guess that’s just what makes soccer such a universally loved game.

PS: This morning while I was watching Ghana, the commentators mentioned that if more complaints start coming in (some have been reported by players) they will consider banning the horns.

I think that would suck.

Are you watching England?

That is how you play soccer.

Power. Aggression.

Relentless.

Go Germany.

I can’t stand those horns.
It’s killed the euphoric spirit of this world cup for me - where is the joy in that constant annoying non human sound?

It is great to hear the crowd roaring, that is now gone with this noise pollution.
It is like a cloud of locusts coming to cause destruction.

Chanting is much nicer. So is clapping and the Mexican wave or the Brazilian samba, and I hate samba.

yay Germany!
I’m not really a soccer fan, but still, we rock!

Fucking vuvuzela’s. FIFA is looking into banning them. The sooner the better.

Are people really complaining about the horns? Jesus christ.

Also, Germany is just terrifying compared to the otherwise tepid opening of this shindig. If all the rest of us continue playing like we have Down’s than Germany is just going to snatch the entire thing with no trouble.

Germany is playing good BUT come on, the World Cup just started. Holland, Brazil, Portugal and Spain haven’t played yet.

Cacau on the field 1 minute and scored.

GO BRAZIL!

Are you saying you would rather not see the Brazilian women on bikinis dancing to the samba?

Just saying.

I’m just bitter that England somehow tied the United States, to be honest. Disgraceful. But in all honesty compared to the footy played thusfar Germany is just playing incredibly. This game is a lesson in surgically applied murder by ball.

Just got back home… so bumping this a bit late… But no one is more against the US winning the world cup then me. I believe I’m being realistic about it… but I hope and pray you’re right.

I think we can all agree that Brazilian women are a vital aspect of the World Cup.
