First year in five years I will have the holidays off. Oil work never stops.
On the bright side I just found out today that my company (food lion) thinks they can compete with walmart by creating a third shift (midnight - 7) on the first to pick up all the food stampers. And since I get paid the least I’m getting forced into it but even on the brighter side no only do I have to work my normal job in the meat department I have to also work produce at the same time.

I have an 8 to 2 shift in the hospital, which isn’t too bad,as I’ll be back for dinner. An absolute bitch getting up that early on Christmas Day though.
Who else has been stung by this cruelest of happenings??[/quote]
8 is early? Have a kid or two. Then see what time they get up on Christmas morning.

Worst still, staying up late to wrap presents and assemble toys, then getting up at the crack of dawn to pretend like I’m overjoyed that Santa’s lazy ass came to our house.
Hopefully gonna make it down to a homeless shelter and volunteer this year, as no family is around this time. They’re all the other side of the country.
Thoughts go out to all the people that have to work christmas instead of being with their loved ones.
im working on christmas day as well. not even mad. i could use the money.

You, sir, are a good man.
In past years, I’ve spent Christmas or Christmas eve helping out at homeless shelters, orphanages, soup lines, clothes and blanket distribution, etc. Come to think of it, at the time, my family was far away too.
Anyway…hope something good happens to you in the near future. You deserve it.

Thanks for the kind words, hope everyone has a good christmas!
Just want to give an early “Merry Christmas” to all of you who have to work on Christmas Day, especially the LEO’s, soldiers, medical, and emergency responder folks.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!!
Like Steely said, thank you to everyone who has to work tomorrow, from doctors and soliders to the 7-11 peeps when I come in to get my morning Spike. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all those that have to work today and tomorrow.
Luckily my 48 ends at 0700 tomorrow.
I’m cool with it, at least I am home and in the states ![]()
My heart goes out to my devils and the soldiers, airmen, and sailors overseas, get home soon!
Merry Christmas!
I got goosebumps when ben_v said he was going out to a homeless shelter on Christmas eve to help people. You sir are a great person!
I hope everyone enjoys there holiday the best that they can. I now work in the tool & die manufacturing industry, so shops like mine were closed by 10 o’clock thursday night.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR PEOPLE IN MEDICAL POLICE&FIRE, AND IN ALL THE ARMED FORCES. THANK YOU!!
Imagine the NFL teams that play on Christmas day…wait…they get paid so much…fuck them.
Well I ended up having to work a 12 hour shift today, finally got to get home for the first time this Christmas season tonight, appreciate it even more now.Great just sitting down with the family, gonna enjoy The Departed with them along with a nice few cans of ice cold Budweiser.
Happy Christmas everyone!
By the way,a 10 week old kid died in A&E today.I realised then that it wasn’t so bad having to work Christmas Day at all in comparison to a hell of a lot of people’s problems today.
Well it’s that time of year again…after missing out last year due to an ankle injury requiring two surgeries I’m back in this year. Did a 12 hour today which made for a productive Christmas Eve at least, in 8-2 tomorrow which is pretty reasonable. Triple time so I can’t complain! Anyone else in the same boat?
Worked on a gold mine in Western Australia, a 3 hr drive away from theBird.
