Yeah holding up okay so far. Left wrist still a little problematic…lower back complains randomly at times, but otherwise everything is fine and going well.
Meant to be singles. Have had A Lot of joint pain this past few days, maybe 4-5 days. Wrists, shoulders, knees, ankles, elbows, all cranky at the same time… inflammatory issue I assume? Was taking Ibuprofen here and there to help, which it did for a bit. Today is the first day I’ve had no pain…viral? I’ve felt a little fatigued also during those days. No idea. Maybe all my holiday food and beverages coming back to bite? Been a week back on the diet, and seems to have cleared today like I mentioned.
Felt like deadlifting something… So I passed up the squats, and the singles and went for a triple. It moved great too…will upload. Aside from some soft knees on a couple reps, it moved easy, and felt light. Wrists still had a little pain actually during warmups, but we’re ok after 180kg so I continued.
Tried squatting twice, tried Pressing twice also, during the past five days trying to make a workout happen, but all times ended in just doing some self massage work, some stretching, and 20 minutes on the bike instead. I got to working weights on squat both times, but both times joints everywhere were hurting too much after just 2 singles. Pressing I never made it to the working weight before my wrists both complained too much.
can’t say I’ve experienced that before? I’ve one day here and there over the years where joints have said a resounding no like that, but never more than a day or so, certainly never almost a bloody week!
Accessories were good. Just wanted a good pump, so took what was already loaded and used strict 60 second rest times for both exercises. Put me right at rpe 10 on bench, and about 9-9.5 on the rows. Very tidy pump.
Biggest take away from today is that there is no joint pain after the session. I’ll keep an eye on it, hopefully it’s done, whatever the hell it was. Very strange.
I’ll train again tomorrow, assuming no joint inflammation.
Woke up today still feeling good, so I’m assuming, it has passed LOL.
Always a worry when no one else reports any issues in your Household hey. I mean, you don’t want anyone sick with anything ever, but yeah…Thinking it was holiday fun related.
Great session. Honestly. Loved it. Decided to push the deadlift again today - yesterday was maybe rpe 7 - the 210kg top set went well. Rep 9, maybe. Certainly wasn’t maxed. And back felt great.
no joint pain today either, definitely out of the woods there I think.
bench was interesting, been a hot minute after doing the floor presses for a while. Was nearly maxed at 120kg for 2. Not bad having not done it. Nice to muck around a bit. Had some nice Pec doms from inclines yesterday. Not really sure that impeded me, though of course I’d like to Think that it did .
Pendlays…didn’t film 130kg, but not super confident that I was able to get to the Top of the ROM to my personal standards. I was certainly close…fun to try in any case. 1rm probably right around current bench 1rm.
Deadlifts were smooth. I didn’t want to go too heavy today, so opted for a variation I haven’t done for a while in deficit deadlifts. First set was kinda weird. Not hard. Weird. Second set was Much easier so upped weight for the third set and even that felt kind of the same. Good news. I really like the variation as it forces you to push more with your quads to initiate, else lose position. A good training tool, i’d like to PR this one soon. I’d have to do a bloody deep dive into my logs to find my best set…but I’m fairly certain I’ve never pulled more than 200kg for reps…Pretty sure I pulled 225? Once during an study I participated in…but that was I think an 80mm deficit. I can check this with my friend, as he was the researcher lol. In any case, I wanna pull that for reps.
Hatfield squats tool some warming up…knees were not cooperating at all without sleeves, so they went on pretty early. No idea why, but that fixed that issue immediately, and off we went. I had trouble with the bloody pads on the SSB moving about towards the bottom of the rep, basically ensuring I could feel the steel bar itself through it. I managed it better on that top set, but still was very distracting. This should be over 200kg this exercise, so that’s the goal here too this year. Technique really focussed on being as quad biased as I could make it. Toes forward with feet almost straight, and next to no forward knee travel, or at least very little, with no thought in my mind outside of push with the quads.
Benching was light, as with the light press yesterday. Touch n go, short rest times. More greasing that groove, plus I could still feel the effects of the heavier bench a few days ago.
The plan tomorrow is pull a few heavy doubles, ascending, to a top set. Then get in some hypertrophy work on DB inclines again, and the chest supported rows, before beginning to include loaded carries again (Sorry Dan John! I been slippin’).
Next family holiday booked in. November…a while away, but i get anxious when nothing is booked in. Working on a weekend away in April also. So that’s this year sorted.
Woke early this morning for no reason. It was still raining…So i went for a walk LOL. Just Something about walking in the rain in summer in the early hours (was 5am). No wind, just a steady rain and about 22C. No phone. No people. Great way to wake up in truth! Got back about 540…stripped off (mostly - settle down), and jumped in the pool for a bit, which was warmed to 25C.
Saw the wife off to work and was in my office by 6am, knocking off in about an hour then will eat, then train.
short one. Wanted to do more, tired AF. Worked all day, then went out straight after work at 5pm…
Its only been 5-6 short weeks since I lost my best mate…but couldn’t say no to these little guys. Timing will never be right. I’ll never be Over my little mate. So I figured what does it matter? Price was perfect, and these ones were ready to go to a new home, and I welcome all animals around here!
So, without further adieu, meet the newest members of the garage gym, Shadow, and Winter. I think it’s obvious who is who. Very well tempered animals…Winter is especially confident in herself, and after just a couple short hours, is the Boss. Sisters, they get along well, which is what I wanted again. My two previous girls were also littermates.
Pomsky is the breed. Half Siberian Husky, half Pomeranian. Poor Pomeranian…? Looking forward to growing with them.
Big day today. Lots of puppy training - going well - all the yard work completed. New dog door installed in our rear screen door. And put together a new clothes drying line…
Left me a bit more tired than I was expecting, but reduced sleep via having to let the pups out to the toilet twice overnight didn’t help!
Deadlifts felt a little fatigued. Expected. Some rep work today with mid weights was planned anyway.
bench still felt a bit fatigued from the heavy session earlier in the week. Though it’s on a completely different schedule to the deadlifts, was able to hit the reps comfortable enough still.
