I laughed hard at this but that’s the best type to have. I hope the shoulder heals quick!
Been a problem since July, mostly because I’m a stubborn old bastard like @simo74 ![]()
(Not as old though. Lol).
Yeah she is awesome. Like proper laser focus on the situation at hand! I’ve heard it makes some people uncomfortable. Just makes it easier for me to access great care and advice. Lol
Got out into the garage again to get the Pressing done.
Its nothing weight. But it’s a start to hopefully strengthening the entire girdle and get back to working towards a PR.
The bar i used is 19kg, and i usually add 1kg to it get that 20kg…but forgot, so we starting at 24kg instead of 25.

1kg away from a 5 year low!
Going great now. Got a rhythm. Taking it all the way to the 23rd November. That should see more than some 102.x’s on the scale. Then a week off in Hong Kong, where the activity level will probably out weigh energy intake lol. It’s only a week, so can’t do much damage in that time IMO.
Would be really nice to start the new year off at 100kg or less.

Notes:
- I slotted all the shoulder rehab stuff in at the beginning as no benching today.
- Deadlift felt Really good. Smooth. Single at 160 looked good, so just went on with it. Though I think I need more singles in the warmups. That first rep still a little off sometimes.
- accessories were fun today. Daily curls as usual. I slotted the back extensions in with the last two sets of leg extensions. Turns out they are a great pairing for a superset. Noted.
On we go, lads.

Quick one on a work break.
Today:
No specific training, but kept active all day.
Pulled apart my garage…cleaned the whole thing, then rearranged it all to create more space in an attempt to fit both cars in lol.
Succeeded…but now I have a pile of crap to get rid of in the upcoming council rubbish collection, and no cars can fit until then LOL. It’s next week, be fine. Insane how much dirt/dust/wood shavings/metal shavings/glass etc was scattered like everywhere under cabinets, behind the fridge, in-between gym mats, and under them.
5 hours later it’s done. Me too.
Fin.
Woken up with a cold or some BS this morning.
Dont seem to feel inherrently ill…might still train this arvo. Cancelled my work trip tomorrow/wednesday just incase. Screw being on a plane and driving all over in another state with a cold, lol. Low-key benefit of being the man in charge…
Really heavy head cold last two days. ![]()
Daughter had a very small cold last week, of course the old man gets it harder
.
Have stayed active though. Lots of short walks the last two days, and it seems to be helping Clear it out faster than usual. Fought off any lacking appetite BS, and have given in to sleep when it calls with a few naps yesterday. Today feeling improved by quite a margin over yesterday.
Still completed the shoulder rehab, and got the daily pressing in, with some curls also. But left out everything else in lieu of just walking, both street and treadmill, nice and easy just keeping the body ticking over. I ‘might’ deadlift and bench today, even if just light.
Movement is medicine.
Fin.
I believe this too, but it is really hard to move much when your head is full of a cold. Get well mate.
Really only the sinus headaches that kill me dead in my tracks. I can deal with other symptoms.
Today was feeling quite a lot better than yesterday. Got out and about a bit. Lots of walking. Then this afternoon decided to added some bench.

Notes:
- just a little something adding that bench set. Though by the time I racked it, I realised that’s all I should be doing, and packed it up.
- the presses felt good today. Shoulder stuff seems to be working. Though I’m not noticing something weird in my left tricep. Not pain, just weird. Assuming it’s part of the weakness on that left side. Dunno. I’ll report it next week when I see the physio again.
- bench set got me sweating up a storm…also created instant release of water from my nose. Lol. No colour in it thankfully…but yeah, not yet ready to push any other movements further than light stuff. Another day or so I reckon.
- will deadlift light tomorrow. Considering a front squat session later this week also.

Still a rusty today. So still taking it easy. This close to my Hong Kong holiday, I’m unwilling to give this head cold Any reason for uprising lol.

Then I played around with some squats. Foot position - width, angles etc, high bar, front squat, SSB.
Nothing didn’t cause pain…and this was after an extensive warmup routine as usual. Which all felt great…
The break will do them good…ill leave them until after Hong Kong. I’ll just stick to the SSB. Incidentally, the front squat was the best of the lot today. Go figure.

- press was okay. Wanted to try a bit more weight today to see how it felt. It still hurts…but was manageable for sure.
- Ezy Curls are my new favourite things.

Also did some car washing today. Temperamental old bitch, but so much fun to drive.

- bench was good. 100x9 is not bad for me… especially not peaked.
- Pendlay rows are fun. Missed them.
- DB bench felt awkward, it’s been a short while, this will improve.
- unexpected PR on the curls. Had a rep in the tank, too.
- one more training session before Hong Kong on Saturday!

In Hong kong now for a week or so. GREAT start to the holiday with my phone completing shitting itself upon landing here. Like proper dead…and the damn thing has Everything linked to it lol. Absolute pain in the butt…
Luckily, I know a select few passwords…so I’m able to still transfer money and all that stuff using the iPad.
Decided not to buy another phone here in HK…and honestly I’m enjoying the silence, and just getting on with enjoying the holidays. Wife and her brother have Thier phones…all I need.
It’s an interesting place. It’s VERY big. I knew that of course…but I didn’t appreciate just how Big, in every direction.
The people if I’m to be completely honest, seem like some of the most miserable people I’ve come across in my many travels…
There is a complete lack of regard for other people around them, especially the elderly, which is a sad observation. Everyone is out for themselves which I Do get, but you gotta draw a line in terms of respect right?
I’m also one of the biggest people around
. That is not common in Australia or the US
. My bro in-law is about 6’4…people stare often when they aren’t staring at their phones!
One thing about not having a phone on me, is the new found recognition of how much we All rely on them. Feel like I’m being cured somehow, or I’ve been involuntarily expelled from the matrix or something.
Anyway, important things now…The hotel pool is 40m long… have put in quite a few laps etc day so far. The gym is right along side it, “fully equipped”…it’s okay. Enough for a solid pump every morning lol. Been rehabbing the shoulder still with the baby dumbbells, and hitting chest/back/legs with 2-3 hard sets on a couple of exercises. Abbreviated. Best.
Off to dinner now…looking for a succulent Chinese meal.
Fin.
Enjoy your break from work and the online universe mate.
Got another session in this morning before leaving the hotel.
Smith machine bench.
Lat pulldowns.
Leg extensions.
Notes;
- numbers don’t mean much. 3 hard sets on the bench and pulldowns to 8-9 reps on the first set, with a 5% load drop for the sets there after. All to near failure.
- leg extensions were fun. Ended up doing the whole stack minus one plate…91kg at the top i think it was, 97for the last plate. Got 8 with the 91kg. Did 4 sets building up to that.
- in and out. Pump up and piss off.
Laterz.
Disneyland day 1, complete.
Hong Kong Disneyland is not nearly as big as even Anaheim, so getting around isn’t as big a deal. Still, 17000 steps today, including 25 minutes straight with the now 42kg and very tall daughter on my shoulders for the light show at the end of the evening. Quite the trap pump this time around ill tell you for nothing…but I couldn’t let her still smallish height get in the way of her watching a fantastic show!
Day 2 tomorrow! Unlikely to stay for the ending like we did today, though it was easy to get back to the hotel…so maybe.
Speaking of the hotel, as nice as it in…they have you cornered here in terms of restaurant pricing! Deplorable really when you consider the average cost of a great(er) meal in downtown Hong Kong is about a third of what they charge here. The grub within the park is Much cheaper, so been doing our eating in there for the most part, at least outside of what we could bring along from our stay in the city.
On the whole buy, a pretty nice park to visit…and the tickets are Bullshit cheap. 20 bucks in Aussie dollars for the in-laws today blew my mind lol. But even my ticket was only 125. 5:1 on the money currently, so I’m walking around with THOUSANDS in my pocket. Weird feeling.
.
Bed time…getting up early-ish before the fam wake to walk the ocean foreshore and get in too many pushups behind the hotel.

Another Year, another family holiday coming to a end.
I write this while chilling out in the Qantas lounge in Hong Kong airport…a privilege i am fortunate enough to enjoy as part of my occupation. Allows me to take the family in along side…my bro in-law travels a lot also, and also has this benefit.
The food in some lounges is questionable to say the least. IE Sydney lounges always seem to have a massive carb loaded focus. Your best bet there is just annihilating thier endless supply of boiled eggs.
Hong Kong is not like this at all. 5-6 dishes served up at a buffet, one in particular, lovely chunks of beef in some kind of red wine jus. I put a Hole in this one for sure
. They also have waiters endlessly circling taking orders of three separately prepared meals, all included of course. On thier trollies they are also carrying endless supplies of calamari, and prawn dumplings…amazing.
Have I mentioned free alcohol? Free poured also…I ordered a bourbon as coke zero, asked for a double and the bar keep simply started pouring slowly and said “say when”… probably a triple. I’ve been sitting on it a while
.
Flight again delayed…45 minutes so far. Qantas are making a habit of this on international flights for me,this being 3 in a row now I’ve been delayed. (Hawaii, Sydney, and now HK). After having never had a single issue with them in 15 odd years of flying international…
Plan is the try and sleep the whole way home. Have taken steps to ensure hydration, and am plenty fed… here’s hoping I can sleep the vast majority of the 9 hour flight, as I’ve got to drive 90 minutes home tomorrow morning… and finish setting up the Xmas lights for the house for the street wide “night 1”.
If sleep is achieved, I will avoid jet lag, and can probably get a workout in also in the afternoon (insanely keen to pickup a barbell fyi…).
Flight leaves soon…see you when I’m back in the promised land.
Fin.
