It isn’t even as much of the use of this to bash him as the lefty arrogance this is thrown about as proof he shouldn’t be elected is one of the large reasons I left liberalism.

This is just… Sad. A sad attempt to discredit a man. [/quote]

Agreed.

My personal beliefs about religion are pretty well known around here, but bigotry is bigotry and this is bigotry.

I don’t know about that. If someone’s religious faith teaches ‘bigotry,’ is it bigotry to attack that faith? For instance, while I appreciate your civility in a certain other thread, surely you must consider me and my faith to be bigoted?

Just curious, why are you labeling this an attack from the left? Isn’t that host a member of conservative talk radio?

Sorry, should have added that I’ve seen this littered throughout my facebook feed today.

The way it is being shown is just… Like I said, sad.

You argued your position well and without an appeal to faith. While your religion may have shaped your views on gay marriage, that thread remained firmly based in secular appeals to reason.

I care nothing about a politician’s religious beliefs so long as s/he governs in accordance with the fact that the people of this country do not unanimously share those beliefs.

Though he is a Mormon, I don’t think Mitt Romney will be a Mormon President if he’s elected any more than Obama is a Christian one. Santorum, on the other hand, had me worried.

I am nervous about Romney holding events in Cleveland and Pittsburg tomorrow…

Shouldn’t he be kicking back and sipping sparkleing apple juice?

lol.

The funniest moment for me among any of the parody/comedy takes on this election season was on SNL (which I usually hate): at the end of the primary, all of the Republican candidates were meeting for a drink to reminisce, they went on down the line…“I’ll have a whiskey”…“I’ll have an espresso,” and then Mitt Romney: “I’ll have a napkin.”

Thank you. But, still, now I’m intrigued. I’ll deal with this in that other thread.

That is not the Mitt Romney that built a 300 million dollar fortune. He works until late at night and gets up early in the morning. The opposite of Obama.

What you are seeing is good old fashion work ethic and to me that’s heart warming.

Good point.

I am still flying high off the Rasmussen R+6 projection

Here’s my call on the Presidential race:

Mitt Romney wins Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Iowa, Colorado and Ohio. Romney wins the Presidency with 285 electoral votes. The popular vote will be won by Romney by 3 points.

I had written a very lengthy post and decided that it is just far too much for anyone to sift through. If my PM was working I’d ask you to PM me and I’d send it to you. But, my PM has not worked on this site in over a month.

Anyway, if Romney has a good night you may see Wisconsin go his way as well. I think that it is possible for two reasons:

Paul Ryan is a favorite son, but just as importantly the organization for the recall vote for Governor Walker is still in place and working feverishly for Romney (I know this to be a fact!) Furthermore, if you recall (had to say it) Walker won his recall election by even more than he won his original election.

But on the other hand Romney has not visited Wisconsin in his final flurry so I left it in the Obama column. knowing what a hard worker Romney is I was surprised and a tad discouraged about the possibility of him winning it. With that said, Ryan has been there a whole lot and it might be enough.

If Romney has an exceptional night he may even pick up Pennsylvania although I think it was too little too late for him to win this state, so I left it in obama’s column.

So there you have it.

Now let’s get this thread on track and have everyone make their own final predictions regarding the 2012 Presidential race. No one gets the right to attack me for my predictions unless they make some of their own

Fair enough?

(If there is a mod who could fix my PM I’d appreciate it- Thanks)

What about California?

my my my…

Please god let this and Rasmussen be right.

Please let Wisconsin go red as well. Let the flood gates open and please for the love of anything holy let Romney, if elected, be a good flippin president. For my daughter’s sake.

Florida: Romney by 3.5

Pennsylvania: Obama by 1.5

Iowa: Romney by <0.5

Michigan: Obama by 1.5

Nevada: Obama by 1

Ohio: Obama by <0.5

Virginia: Romney by 2

New Hampshire: Romney by 0.5

Colorado: Romney by 1

Minnesota: Obama by 3

Wisconsin: Obama by 2.5

Obama wins 271-267

Edit: I sort of think Romney is going to win actually, but I figured that it would be a disservice to my Comrades if I didn’t put in a formal prediction of an Obama victory.

Plus, the simple math I used to come to these predictions is probably the best I’ve got (poll averages with penalties across the board to Obama in order to counter what I believe has been statistical bias in his favor, plus steeper subtractions to Obama’s numbers based on trendlines).

Zeb:

You can REALLY piss me off sometimes, (and I am sure I can do the same to you…!)

However, I have learned more about the General Political Process (and Politics on general), and Conservative thought from you (and T-Bolt and PUSH) than I learned in 8 years of College and Graduate School. (Those damn Cesspools of Liberalism, huh?)

Thank you, my friend.

I am pretty much with you on the assessment above.

Not a landslide…but a solid win for Romney…and hopefully someone who can at least keep pointing our country in the right direction.

Either way…we need to say a prayer or two for our next President…they’ll need it.

Mufasa

(P.S. I’m still working on the “MSLM” thing…!)

Dang-anybody have experience with this stat: Just over one-out-of-four Americans (27%) say the upcoming election has negatively affected their personal relationship with a friend or family member. Came across it reading the Rasmussen daily tracking.

As far as predictions go:

I consider the following states to be toss-ups:

NV
CO
IA
WI
OH
VA
FL
NH
PA

I say that they breakdown as follows:

NV, IA, WI, OH, NH, PA-Obama (290)
VA, FL, CO-Romney (248)
Popular vote-Romney (0-1%)

However, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see things go the other way. I could see VA, IA, and/or OH flip without batting an eye at the result. I honestly haven’t paid enough attention to NH to be surprised by anything. NV/CO just are gut feelings that I would be a little surprised to see go the other way. FL or PA going the other way would be big news IMO. WI would be surprising on its own flipping, but if OH and/or IA go Romney it wouldn’t shock me.

What I’m looking forward to Wednesday: Pollsters back tracking and explaining why they’re still geniuses even if they’re wrong. Moving past the ever divisive campaign season to the point where people start to try and get things done again (being young and naive can be fun-dreaming is too…).
What I’m not looking forward to Wednesday: 1-What I consider to be now unavoidable cries of election fraud, regardless of the winner. 2-Unabashed gloating by supporters of the winner and sour grapes (in addition to voter fraud) from supporters of the loser.

I also agree with ZEB’s sentiment about not tearing apart predictions unless you make your own. Heck, I don’t plan on criticizing anybody’s-at this point, margin of error makes pretty much all picks reasonable.

Double post. Might as well take this time (inspired by Mufasa) to also thank everyone here for an entertaining run up to the election. I’ve honestly learned a ton here in the past month or so and it has really helped me be better informed overall. A special shout out to ZEB and Beans for economic insights.

Also to echo Mufasa-here’s hoping to a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow, regardless of who sits in the Oval Office.

I’m happily married to a progressive who will likely try and raise our daughter to be a progressive. Most of my friends are liberals/progressives, with a few of the older ones recently converted to moderates as they have jobs and pay bills.

So no, this election hasn’t changed my mind or ruined personal relationships, I get a good chuckle out of the stupid arguments my buddies put forth though.

This will drive me insane. Celebration is one thing, but I’m calling it now: if Obama wins FightingIrish will do a drive by post that race baits whil he gloats, just like with the obamacare ruling.

Gloating is annoying.
