If you’re referring to Hannity, it’s because his advertisers started dropping like flies when he agreed with a guest that the 14 year old girl had consented. If his ass wasn’t on the line, I’m betting he’d defend him right up until the bitter end.

I would agree, but I haven’t read that. I’ve seen someone saying that a police officer asked him to let him know if Moore was at the mall. I’ve also seen some people claiming that Moore was in the Mall all the time. I haven’t seen what the police officer did when the guy reported seeing Moore at the Mall. Surely Moore showed up again after the officer told the store owner to let him know, right? Weird story.

Tis neigh impossible. Fuck Hannity too.

I’ve read the Hannity interview.

Ok, and you still believe Moore over his accusers? As far as I know, no one’s threatened a lawsuit or pressing charges against him. In fact, from my read, the statute of limitations is far past for both criminal and civil suits. So what are these women gaining by coming forward at this time? Pretty sure most, if not all of them, are republicans who voted for Trump.

That’s a good question. I assume they’re just making sure the public knows so that it doesn’t happen to the next girl.

I was interpreting from your earlier comments that you didn’t believe the story. Apologies if it was a misread on my part.

This is the direction I thought the thread would go.

I’m too ill-informed to make a definite judgement on Moore (if true, he needs to be horse whipped), but timing seems suspicious. Plus l don’t hold liberal politicians in enough regard to not think they could make up crap.

Hence my OP stating some veracity is needed. Agree to poster saying he has become toxic.

I would like to know why these women are now coming forward. They could have saved others at one point, but they now choose to do so after 30 years or so(I believe) without similar incidents.

They either:

  1. believe Moore will mess around with more young girls, after a long hiatus;
  2. have political motivations; or
  3. have other motivations.

Or, were scared spitless about the ramifications (social, vocational, legal, etc) of coming forward. And/or were deeply ashamed of what happened, and couldn’t fathom sharing it publicly. And/or blamed themselves (‘I must have done something to lead him on’). And/or because they were simply afraid people wouldn’t believe them.

In the meantime, we’ll assume you agree with this guy: “If they believe this man is predatory, they are guilty of allowing him to exist for 40 years,” State Representative Ed Henry told The Cullman Times. “Someone should prosecute and go after them.”

Or…

  1. They couldn’t stand to watch someone who had molested them at a young age represent them as one of their senators in Washington DC.

There are many women who never come forward. For those that do, I’m sure something triggers them to finally go public. And as we’ve seen time and time again, once one comes forward, it’s much easier for others to follow.

I’d certainly agree that they’re guilty of allowing him to remain free for all that time, but that’s not a crime. I don’t believe they’ve committed a crime that can be prosecuted. It’s difficult(to say the least) to prove a negative, and that(proving that these incidents didn’t occur) would seem necessary to prosecute them for slander.

And is it also your opinion that their ‘guilt’ should be the topic of primary interest in the current situation?

Relatedly, do you believe the women deserve public opprobrium for their failure to come forward sooner?

It’s not like the guy was an order-picker in a distribution center warehouse or something; he was a Judge. He had legal authority over others long before now.

Man! That is some brazen good ole boy shit right there.

If that doesn’t scream “The rest of you better keep your mouths shut!” then I don’t know what does.

Exactly my point.

Their “guilt” certainly influences my opinion on the incidents. What the women “deserve” depends entirely upon what actually happened.
