And that doesn’t make him a Muslim. And there was religious education, not Islamic instruction as not all kids there were Muslims.
I do take offense, for lack of a better word, to lies and fabrications. The claims against Obama offend me in the same way the Sandy Hook deniers offend me which is the same way that those who continue to believe the Protocols of the Elders of Zion offend me.
You don’t need to believe anything then post a belief which is not based on facts.
The second sentence makes no sense. You either are or aren’t Muslim. He was more Muslim that Catholic even though he went to a Catholic school first and for a longer period of time than public school?
See what I wrote above, which is the more reasonable expectation.
Yes, it is telling that I prefer the facts over internet babbling. What is also telling is how you obviously tried to get me to say something that could be considered anti-Muslim, and it utterly failed. What’s even more telling is that you failed to learn the first time and tried to do it again, and failed again. Let’s see if you try a third time.
Matter of opinion. By your rule there aren’t many Christians in the US either.
Me believing Obama isn’t very religious and was most likely nominally Muslim in part of his childhood is like denying sandy hook happened. Got ya. How totally unemotional and rational of you. I haven’t lied about or fabricated anything. Name a fact I made up.
Well, when discussion internal motivations and beliefs, no one has the facts. Based largely on his auto biography (written by a guy with strong incentive to downplay anything islamic related), his rebellion from his mother’s side of the world, and his later choices in religion, no I don’t believe he was Catholic.
It’s pretty clear we have a difference of opinion on which is reasonable. Only one of us started with straw man name calling though.
You are the one that took the Muslim label as an insult. It’s hard to image the same reaction to something you considered inocuous. I wasn’t trying to catch you. Just noted the disproportionately hostile reaction to the label.
I’m fully aware and admit that I don’t know his heart, I don’t know his true beliefs, and I don’t think poorly of people who have a different read on the situation as there is more than one way to guess on the subject.
If I accused you of anything you wouldn’t have to ask as it would be clear. Like me calling you a liar for saying I take the claim of being a Muslim as an insult. In case you need more clarification: you are a liar. And that makes three attempts at calling me anti-muslim. It also makes three failures.
Now complain about straw men and say you are done you mouth breathing Alex Jones cultist.
You have a disproportionate overly defensive reaction to a muslim label to the point you resort to straw men and insults. Those are facts. Whether or not you personally have a bias against Muslims, I don’t factually know. But pointing out the disproportionate nature of your response isn’t a lie, and the point certainly hasn’t failed. You’ve continued to support the statement with your actions.
Despite the belligerent name calling for anyone who has the opinion, it’s perfectly reasonable to believe not only that at one point the president would have probably nominally self-identified as Muslim, but that the Islamic religion had a deep impact on who he grew up to be.
I have to disagree here (a bit). As I’ve said in the past…we agree on much more than we disagree on.
We all are a composite of our Life experiences. Certainly his Dad’s religion was part of the Tapestry that made him who he is…but so were his Midwestern, white grandparents who essentially raised him.
My issue is with the term "deep impact’. During his Tenure as both Candidate and President; the Right (and this is not hyperbole) would have you believe the President was ready to persecute all Christians and Jews…and institute Sharia Law.
THAT was what was intended to convey with “he is a Muslim”…not that it was just one part (among many) of his Life.
Have you ever met and interacted with an actual practicing Muslim?
If Obama was “shaped” or “impacted” by Islam he would have never married Michelle - women like her are culturally deeply abhorrent to even mildly religious Muslims
Yes, but I was refering to the alleged “impact” of Islam during his upbringing.
I have lived among Muslims as a kid, have read the Quran and the Hadiths and nothing in Obama’s behavior suggests any kind of Muslim “influence”, quite the contrary.
If he was shaped by Islam in any shape and form he would have behaved completely different.
I certainly think Obama himself thinks that time in his life was critical. I also think that while he may not have taken the faith to heart, it certainly made him sympathetic to Islamic nations.
