The Russian issue is still an ongoing, actual investigation by real government officials. The birther movement was based on internet mumbo jumbo and spread by ignorant people.
And after he addressed the matter he didn’t convince anyone who already was a birther. I don’t blame Obama for not conceding to the demands of racists and fools.
when he lived with his father, yeah. He was officially listed as one and was living with a parent that was. FTR I don’t think he’s really much of anything religiously like most politicians.
Real government officials who created the investigation as “insurance” against his presidency, aren’t officially targeting Trump, and so far have produced no significant evidence against him? Ok.
You feel the same way about the McCain birther movement? You also think he should have ignored the racists and let it drag on and grow?
yeah, that’s me alright. I haven’t even argued that he was born somewhere else. Please go back and read what I’ve written if you want to actually address me.
The McCain birther movement did not question WHERE he was born but whether or not it disqualified him from office. It also did not question his religion.
You need to read better. I said the people who questioned where Obama was born (is that you?) are the same people who want to see those photos and, they would remain unconvinced regardless.
School records. Again, what I mean by this is that he was nominally muslim. Muslim school, Muslim society, Muslim family. Much the way many kids in the US are nominally Christian and might have their parents drag them to church on Christmas and Easter.
Why do you find a former Muslim being president so outlandish and offensive? It’s like you consider being noted as Muslim slanderous.
Religion isn’t a disqualification. And the difference in the result and why the Obama birther movement grew was the result of how Obama handled it. I totally think he trolled the far right intentionally. I also think it was a brilliant move that ended up making much of the right look ridiculous.
I fully admit that the way Obama handled the situation made me question if he was hiding something about his past. Now I believe it was a wildly successful troll on his part. Regardless, the Sandy Hook reference was wildly offensive and off base.
Now you say “nominally” Muslim. In Indonesia, where he lived with his stepfather, he went to a Catholic school. If he was listed as Muslim it wasn’t because he was but because that is what his stepfather was (on paper). He then went to a public school, which was not a religious school.
Why do I find a former Muslim as president an issue? I don’t, as Obama is not a former Muslim. But, why do you need to believe he was?
I said nominally to begin with. In Indonesia he went to a public school in a Muslim country that did involve some amount of Islamic teaching/prayer though not largely.
You obviously take offense to it. I don’t need to believe anything. I believe he was at the time more muslim than anything else, though not particularly so. I believe that because it’s the most reasonable expectation. You get mad and call people names if they think he was Muslim though. It’s telling.
Your comment “Sandy Hook wildly offensive and off base”
My comment “Here’s a direct comparison between Sandy Hook and Birthers”
Your comment “insert fallacy here guess we’re done being rational”
Ok then. You referenced an unrelated incident and attributed motive to someone else because you lost the direct argument. I’m to assume by your argument you hate children because some people somewhere people who believe your side of this argument hate kids. and I’ll be damned if I’m going to sit here and be insulted by a child hater.
