Some people do such things because they believe in the cause or the purpose, have a strong sense of duty, see a need that must be filled, not just because they enjoy killing other people.
Of course. My point was that the best warriors would be those who love war. Remember Patton’s buddy Bradley giving him shit for loving war? Well, who the hell better to be at war than someone who loves it?
Who is better: a doctor who loves being a doctor or one who’s there for the $$$$ or whatever?
Don’t you support destroying our country’s enemies? Wouldn’t you WANT someone who enjoys doing that?
I’ve never understood the view of ‘Well gee whiz we HAD to kill the sumbitchs!’ In the many fights and later sparring matches I’ve had, its a sheer joy to kick your opponent in the face or to smash out some of his teeth on the asphalt. Why do you go to war if you don’t love it?
You can see so clearly from the sidelines.
My lament. I don’t WANT to be on the sidelines.
You are very lucky indeed!

I don’t want to reinstate the draft, as I think it should be person’s choice if they want to serve.
That being said, I wish I actually could go. I would consider it an honor to fight in Iraq. Being 53, sadly, prevents that.
You young gents are missing out by not serving, IMHO. Instead of working in some cubicle or some dumb menial service job, you could be in the front lines. Uncle Sam gives you a huge chunk of change for joining and you get the best training in the world. You get the sheer joy of killing those who would destroy your country.
Where you going to find a better deal than that?
Despite the prevarications the Bush administration has committed in an effort to justify it’s aggressive war against Iraq the reality is that the latter presented no threat in any fashion to US security. A war based upon false presences is hardly motivation for an individual to sacrifice him or herself.

I don’t want either of your shitty stupid choices. I want the doctor who is really good at what he does. Yeah, I know, there may even be a correlation.

There’s no connection between loving what you’re doing, and being good at it?

Why? Canada has an army. It has recruitment offices. If I thought that our communities, families and way of life were under serious threat, why wouldn’t I join up?

(I know I’m gonna get flamed for this one, but I’m laughing justr thinking about it, lol)
Yeah, your soldiers look real tough with those cammies leftover from the Korean War, lol. You talk shit about the US’ committment to troop needs and equipment shortages, but yet Canada spends what? 3 or 4 billion dollars on your National Defense?
(Hence the fact that everytime you see a Canadian soldier walking through a US airport he looks half starved and wearing ragged OD Green camos from the 1950’s, lol.)
By the way, thanks to your ultra loose immigration policies, your way of life is under dire threat.

It’s around 12 billions actually.
We tend to prefer spending our money on improving the lives of our citizens, instead of making the lives of foreigners miserable.
I haven’t seen a canadian soldier wearing green for years now.

I’m really concerned about all the Russians swimming under the North Pole to get into Canada.
Wrong part of the world buddy. Last time I visited Toronto it was Keffiya/Hijab central. Same thing thats happening to France, Holland and other European countries will happen to Canada, due to your “hey come on in” policies towards terrorist exporting countries.
