Why? Seriously, why? Did you just come up with this stuff, or did you talk to people who have actually been through it?
I think starting off a school like OCS at single-digit body fat is foolish. I’ll give you 3-1 that NO ONE on this board who has been to basic training, OCS, or advanced infantry training would disagree with me.

I’ll heed your advice then, and go in heavier. Thanks for the info, I’m not trying to shrug off your help. I don’t know any better…nobody in my family is military, except for 2 of my brothers who just went in…My brother Andrew is a West Point Cadet and my older brother Patrick is going through Navy OCS right now, then to flight school.

I don’t disagree at all. You will lose weight in training. It will take longer than expected for your body to get over that stress and get back to its original size.
This is more stressful than a contest diet. Your body will not simply spring back to where it was before training. It took me months (almost a year) to get back to where I was before I got ready to leave for training.
In an ideal situation, I would have wanted to be even heavier than I was going in.
I also wasn’t able to supplement my diet much at all even though I had protein bars. I couldn’t even stomach getting one of those down after a full day of all of that.

Here’s the thing. You will burn way more than you eat - even if you eat a ton. So going in a little heavier (no one is saying you should get fat) will be to your advantage. You will not lose as much muscle this way. You will still lose a lot of muscle, don’t get me wrong. But going in, you want to mitigate harm.
I doubt they will let you have outside food. I broke the rules and smuggled in protein powder. When I thought someone was going to rat me out, I told my TAC officer who was a big guy I had it. He was cool and kept it for me. But that was an exceptional case. The guy bodybuilt himself and thus understood. You might not be so lucky.
How long do you have to prepare? There are guys here who would be willing to help you periodize your training. In general, though, don’t sweat putting weight. It (fat and muscle) will come in handy in different ways when you train.

I have been using Muscle Milk while cutting, but I am over 250 pounds so 17g carbs and 17g fat in one RTD won’t kill me. I did finally get to try the Lean Body RTD and I will be ordering it from here on out. Talk about tasty!
Exactly. That Ice Cream flavor is the shit and I have honestly not had one that tasted better than that. I actually enjoy getting those protein shakes in instead of gagging it down.
OK, you guys have made me think about adding some of these Lean Body MRP’s to my “just in case/convenience” stockpile.
Are you talking about the low carb one?
Does the vanilla one taste better than the chocolate one?

What does RTD stand for?
RTD= Ready To Drink (As in already mixed and in liquid form)
I have never used the chocolate Lean Body MRP. I only use vanilla.

You sir, have gone up a notch on my respectometer. I’m not prior service, but these guys are and I have sneaking suspicion that they just may know what they’re talking about, in addition to the fact that what they’re saying makes perfect physiological sense.
It’s refreshing to see a young guy willing to concede a reasonable finitude to the scope of their knowledge.

Agreed, let’s hope some of these kids start listening to people who actually have some experience behind what they say.

Thanks Prof. I think I’ll have to get a box next shopping spree.
The creatine boosting shit is poisonous in muscle milk. Its glycocamine or glyco something I forget exactly, but it is REALLY bad for you. Its a legit POISON. Just look it up on webmd or similar site.
