I fall into the same group as a lot of folks in this thread. My clothing comes from Wal-Mart and triathlon/5k/10k/cycling shirts. There is no way in hell I will buy any non performance article of clothing(except professional atire) if it exceeds $20.
I just can’t help but laugh at people who throw money away on expensive clothes when they wear out just as fast as cheap stuff. It does not really bother me much, except that this crowd of clothing snobs tends to look down at you and chastise you for being frugal. Oh well, just another thing to add to the bullshit pile.
I know it’s kind of lame that you have to pay that much more just for nicer back pocket stitching, but show up to the club in Wal-mart jeans, and there’s a good chance you won’t get let in.
Anyplace that doesn’t want my business (and my money) based on how much I spent on my clothing is better off without me as a customer. If jeans are appropriate, then what does it matter what brand they are or how much I spent on them (assuming they are clean and fit appropriately)? I assure you that you don’t have to spend $300 for even premium jeans.
If you can spend $300 on a non-essential piece of clothing (example of essential would be a business suit for a lawyer), then I assume your 401K is fully fully funded, you don’t have any debt (consumer or otherwise), and you own a nice home in a decent neighborhood. Otherwise, $300 for one article of fashionable (i.e. will go out of style) clothing is an absurd waste of cash…shit I think I just officially turned into my father.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I would shoot myself before I would spend more than $40 on jeans, unless my legs were of Platz proportions, and I needed them specially tailored for my jackedness. Old Navy, WalMart and random thrift stores are the only places I’ll buy jeans unless there’s some serious clearance going on. Some people either don’t have their priorities straight, or need to share some of the dough with me.

Good post. Sadly, the people I know who spend the most on clothing with brand names on them are also the LEAST financially secure. Even worse, women are generally dumb enough under the age of 25 to fall for this and judge them strictly by how they are dressed at the moment even though the guy they are speaking to is one missed paycheck away from living on the street.

Thanks.
What’s funny is the guy I quoted said in another thread that string cheese was to expensive. Granted, he said reason for it being expensive was that it is to easy to go through an entire package ($6 @ Walmart). While I find that statement/concern to be valid, it is negated by the comment he made in this thread. Which brings me back to the point I made earlier.
It’s amazing how people don’t realize the stress they put themselves in when they spend all there money on crap. Life gets pretty easy when you consistently build wealth every year…
BTW, wealth building has nothing to do with income but everything to do with living below your means.
Now that I have hijacked this thread I will move on.
Well I guess clothes do make the man. Yesterday I was buying some new dress shirts and ties at the SS Plaza in Braintree and I had on my new jeans pictured here an extreme coture shirt I had bought on sale at Filene’s Basement and I got the come here look by at least 4 different ladies, since I am a pussy I did nothing but hey I figured you’d all get a good laugh making fun of me
Damn. I go to Kholes and grab 5-6 pairs of similarly looking jeans, 3-4 black, dark green, and dark grey t-shirts and call it a day. My whole wardrobe probably costs me $200 and lasts me 2-3 years. $300 on some fucking jeans is retarded.

My brother wears tight jeans and listens to emo music. I make fun of him for it butk, he denies being emo, maybe I have to start checking his wrist for cuts.

Granted, they are on sale at 270 bucks…but maybe no one will be able to tell that they are under 300.
Oh well, I’m off to pluck my eye brows and dye my beard blonde. Toodles.
But they aren’t going to know how much they cost due to they look like affliction jeans. If I wasn’t let into a club it’s just jealousy because I’d get all the girls. More money in my pocket means more money to buy booze and grease the doorman’s palms

You serious?
Nope I was mostly joking I’m a big pussy around women and I’m semi agrophobic so I don’t like crowds
Most of my jeans are $300. That’s just the standard price for nice jeans. I haven’t been able to find nice jeans for cheaper. I know it’s kind of lame that you have to pay that much more just for nicer back pocket stitching, but show up to the club in Wal-mart jeans, and there’s a good chance you won’t get let in. Just look up something like men’s denim guide on google. Everything will be $300+.
Jesus. This thread continues to make me absolutely thrilled that I’m not into the singles/club scene. What a bunch of retards.
If someone told me I couldn’t enter a building because my jeans didn’t cost enough, I’d punch them in the face.
There are plenty on non-Wal Mart options for jeans that don’t cost $300, or even $100 for that matter. Give me a break.
Exactly, did you ever hear of L.L. Bean, Lee, or Levis? 30$-50$ or so.
If I pay 300+ for something it will kill you , or it’s tailored, like a suit jacket.
Most of my scopes are 300+ dollars, good optics are a necessity.
I can see why I don’t go clubbing. I don’t need some dorky doorman making minimum wage and still living with his mommy deciding whether or not I am good enough to enter his club and buy overpriced drinks and be surrounded by trashy women looking for a sugar daddy.
i solely shop at TK MAXX and cheapo outlet like primark and matalan (british version of walmart and golden eagle)
this emo look will die and burn like every other fad… but how long has a pair the “look” comprising of jeans, shirt/poloshirt and converse/skateshoes been around… AGES. stick with what works!

20-60$ jeans ON SALE from name brand companies. I’d rather spend my money on my rock/metal band t-shirt collection(I’m still pissed about not getting the vintage metallica sad but true t shirt), protein, and going out. I wear tight jeans, so shoot me.
