What reason is that?
What do you mean fortunately?
See my question above…
It appears you ran the equilibrium dialysis fT assay from Quest. Care to answer my questions?
The ft is dialysis and the total t is MS, whatever that means. I order my labs through Ulta lab tests. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Interesting. I’m curious, where have you heard this? I assume from some of your doctors?
Yes, because the Free T measurement is not accurate, even the calculated versus Equilibrium Dialysis or Ultrafiltration can be off by as much as 40%. Neither method is perfect.
The Total T is a more reliable test.
Also the endocrine society recommends the calculated Free T, which is what my doctor uses to determine my Free T, that is until something better comes along.
He said a lot of doctors only look at the Total T, either due to a high degree of testing accuracy and or lack of knowledge.
I’m aware of all that. I am curious how you’ve determined the why behind the doctor’s approach. Did they tell you? If so, who? TRT doctors, or others? Where did that information come from? You said yes, was that from the doctors you saw?
I asked my doctor to test my Free T and this was his response.
have u ever try Testosterone from aumeto?
I see, thanks. I misunderstood, I took that to mean you’d spoken to a number of doctors. It’s different from what I’ve heard.
It happens. I think most would be surprised how often doctors re-run tests.
It’s always fun to have to tell a guy I want to repeat the test because I’m suspecting a lab error. Hopefully, they conversation stops there. Usually, it does not. Then I get to tell them that, although I am not worried because I think it is an error, if I’m wrong they could have a life threatening, or worse, condition.
Additional reason not to get too hung up on the numbers.
I don’t know what that is.
