Why Is Fox Such A Joke?

This is a joke. NBC gave Hillary Clinton what was basically a free primetime commercial last night. I didn’t watch all of it but I think it went for an hour with some dude lobbing softball questions at her.

Can you imagine NBC doing that for a Republican candidate?

They are all biased.[/quote]

Dude, there is still a huge matter of degree here. Unless NBC and/or Hillary were fabricating nonsense and calling it news, it is a very different thing than what FOX appears to be doing.

Bias is one factor, but it has many faces. One is simply giving more (up to exclusive) time to one view or another. It’s a completely different matter to engage in a designed campaign to wage a political battle on behalf of an ideology.

You can see the difference right?

Read what etaco posted. If that type fo thing is true, it is a different level of bias than you would find in the so-called liberal media. However, if the so-called liberal media is doing the same, it would also be wrong.

Yes, this coming from the guy who has his lips affixed to Ann Coulter’s ass. Like you have any ability to comment on bias in the media.

Somehow, and it doesn’t surprise me, when the media investigates an issue and asks questions, or reports on what both sides of the issue are stating, that is seen as biased by the likes of you.

Simply because it dares to give voice to viewpoints other than yours. What a crock. There are certainly nutbar lefties out there, but reasoned consideration of issue is what the media should be helping with - and letting us decide based on a full plate of information.

Good luck getting a full plate of anything other than bullshit off of FOX. It’s probably the worst example of bias in the nation… at least for a large fairly mainstream source.

NBC has fabricated news before. remember the exploding pick up trucks?

Yeah, it’s all about ratings(i.e. cash flow).

The real bias is the almighty dollar.

I would bet the hire-ups at all of these ‘NEWS’ organizations would push any kind of inflammatory horseshit as long as $$$ is flowing into the head office by the boatload.

If reaming republicans makes them cash, they’ll say it, it making shit up about democrates brings home the bacon, they’ll make up shit galore.

Business as usual.

What I find most disturbing is that so many people are utterly fooled day in and day out by these professional bullshitters.

It’s a holdover from a prior period when there was actually ethics in news. Political processes are abusing that trust and soon it will be gone…

Too many institutions are being sacrificed to short term political gain. It is a sad state of affairs.

I’ll try and dredge up the survey. I don’t have a nexus account anymore, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to find it. Overall though, most journalists considered themselves left on social issues, and leaning right on economic ones.

And I never claimed it was FOX’s problem alone. They just do it more often, and even more sensationalist than most. They’re like the New York Post of broadcast journalism (with more factual news). CNN can be just as bad most of the time, but FOX is HORRIBLE about it ALWAYS.

Other networks avoid the extreme sensationalism of CNN and FOX. MSNBC does an OK job, but these days almost everything on TV has turned into sensationalist garbage.

Politically, Fox jumped into a niche that the other media created by lilting leftward. As far as sensationalism, I’d say they all do it - the extent to which they do it, and how they do it, depends on their target viewer demographic.

This post is pretty interesting regarding the politics:

The point is, FOX does it a bit more often, and a bit more blatantly.

NBC is bias, Fox is Bias, CNN is bias. Fox is just the stupidest.

Like I said, it’s comparable to the New York Post.

And the best of it - you just us to take your word for it because you watch TV.

I watch a LOT of news. I watch a bunch of FOX news…

I’m not allowed to speak on experience anymore? Does everything one says have to be proven by a double-blind study these days?

Fox is around because their is a narrow, ill-informed audience to watch it. Granted cnn, msnbc, and others have a veneer of liberalism; but still none spew out the amount of blatant propaganda that fox does.

GREETINGS!!!

Just wanted to pop by and ask a quick question: Which major network forged National Guard Papers?

Was if Fox?

Thanks, in advance,

Has anyone claimed the other networks aren’t crooked? No.

Fox is just stupider.

Jerffy,

You are a poster boy for retarded dupes that swallow everything FOX says.

While the documents may have been forged, who can say at this point, do you imagine Dan Rather was out forging them himself or that he fell for a suspected forgery because of his own viewpoints?

Putting together the emotion in politics thread and etaco’s post above, I’m seeing something like this…

FOX is a station with an agenda. When they see an opportunity they latch onto something emotional, and blast it at their audience in order to create or reinforce a negative reaction towards anything liberal.

So, if there is a small fringe of wacko protestors, they will highlight that and in the process smear and discredit anything the more rational protestors might have been trying to express.

I still think that many people view asking tough questions or expressing views other than the sitting administrations views as “opposing” the administration. That in itself is not bias or lean.

Unfortunately, I see a lot of folks around here getting upset about fringe liberal issues and making blanket statements due to those issues. I wonder just who has whipped up their emotions and for what purpose.

Any guesses?

Unfortunately, I don’t think real men let someone else pull their strings so regularly.

Sorry, simply having an opinion is not enough… especially if you are being manipulated into having that opinion.

Really?

Fox is a legitimate news organization. They lean right, but not barely as far as the other news organizations lean to the left. You have 3 major television stations that lean to the left, CNN, MSNBC, and others, and everyone gets upset at Fox for being conservative. Sounds just like the left, believing in freedom of LIBERAL speech.

Want to know the truth? They all suck. I would prefer raw information, but that is impossible. I have found that Fox does the best of presenting both sides of the supposed issues, but has some of the same problems of American news media.

Show me one channel that has given an honest reporting of steroids.

Now lets try not to get our facts from youtube.

What are you nuts? Fox doesn’t present both sides of an issue At ALL. Neither does CNN. NBC is better, but not by much. Fox as a network, however, is conservative. Purely. No compromise.

News coverage wise, all of the major news corps are about the same. Programming wise, Fox is definetly the most leaning towards a political side.
