Why Drive > 80mph?

This is quite simple really. I made mention of my friend who died on his motorcycle, but wasn’t speeding etc. Just wanted to get it off my chest really. I then went on to say I longed for the feeling of freedom you get from riding. It is not my lifelong dream to own and operate a motorcycle. It was as fleeting a thought as the day I wanted a time machine. Or the day I wanted to be an astronaut weightless in space. I can long for both of those things without knowing how to build a time machine, or without training at NASA.

People took exception to my post, they thought it was meant to warn others of the dangers of riding, it was not. I’m not an expert on motorcycles nor did I pretend to be one, I merely said what involvement I’d had with them in the past, because I was put in a place where I had to defend a position I never took in the first place.

Ride if you want, do what you want. I don’t give a fuck.

PS… I don’t personally find you intimidating, ‘dweezil’…maybe if you picked the proper Zappa, and went by Frank.

You’ve been slowly backpedaling out of this thread and attempting to mitigate ‘damage’ since your little blow-up. I think you’ve finally done it, congratulations. Took you a hell of a long time, though.

I blew up. True. I don’t like being misunderstood. Nobody does. I’m a bitch of epic proportions , as you cited in your post. Yes. I am. Explosive yes. Intense… yes. Jarring. Yes. Back pedaling, no, not so much. Just reinerating my initial position.

At least I made it damn entertaining. Enough for you to pay attention and stop. Write a fucking essay. Good On you.

Still say your avatar sucks and Frank Zappa is the only one worthy.

This isn’t correct. In response to the oil crisis, if I recall correctly, they set a maximum speed limit to 55. And I think it was pretty much ignored by everybody. It was repealed in the 90s. The rest of your post was spot on, though.[/quote]

They had speed limits since the invention of the car. You also had to have a footman walk ahead carrying a lantern.

My point exactly - the speed limits were introduced as a measure to try and minimise the effects of high oil prices.

whichever way it was sold to the public it wasn’t about safety - that’s just what people were told to get them to shut up about it.

‘its for your own safety’ isn’t that just a common argument these days.
