Why DON'T You Workout?

Really?
^This^

This is a retarded question.

Why don’t you study advanced algebra and trig? (I’m sure one day you could use it…)
Why don’t you play tennis?
Why don’t you watch old film noir?

I have two unrelated and possibly contridictory points.

 1. self improvement, i think, takes two forms, creating strengths and correcting weaknesses. Because you can’t anticipate everything you’ll come up against, and many of the things that will happen will involve some compecated subset of all your abilities, generally your limiting factors will be your weeknesses. Speaking in general, people should therefore target their weeknesses (and i mean weeknesses other than just having a poor rear to front trap ratio) i.e. if your stupid read a book, if you can’t read learn to, and if your weak join a gym.

On that note, they should be prioritising gym above hair straighteneing and skinny jean wearing.

 1. If just 1 in 10 of them has better growth potential than you or me and they all went to the gym, soon bieber lookalikes would be kicking our asses and taking all the hot girls.

^^ they don’t actively make your body better, well apart from tennis, but again it’s probably something people do for an hour twice a month or summert.

Working out is recommended by pretty much every Dr, Physician, health expert etc… whereas trig or alegebra and film noir isn’t.

lol point 2 is very good, lets leaving them hanging on corners…

Sorry man the human race has become a bunch of lazy, pampered, self-indulgent, and entitled people. At least in non-3rd world countries. Hate to ask but how old are you?

An hour a day 4 times a week?
No. An hour a day, 4x a week…For years. Some people cant handle it. Muscle growth takes too long. Fat loss is a forest of unknown. People attack things completely wrong, and thusly make NO results, get discouraged, and give up. People think muscle gain = lift “Heavy” (taking no diet into account). people looking to lose fat think Eat 1x a day and run a lot.
You make a good point but i’m not taking about people like yourself who are looking to compete ans step on stage, but the 99% of people in gyms who are just trying to improve them selves a little.
Then maybe its a sheer lack of focus? No one telling them what to do or how to accomplish things. They go to the gym, simply to say they go to the gym, and when they get there, they are lost. THey work with the “I train what i feel like” methodology, which is always Chest, Biceps, running, or a combination of the 3.

People who are in the gym and “are just trying to improve themselves a little” still just dont know how to go about it IMHO.

If we are talking about people who just dont go to the gym, well that’s their choice. The same reason i cant stand reading, but can spend hours on a video game. Preferences.
Reading is as much a skill as lifting is. I also suspect our generation reads the most volume ever thanks to the internet. I am a much better reader than video game player though, I still like video games a lot (I simply love books too much)

I have no problem with people with other interests, different strokes for different folks. However I’m not a big fan of little guys who run their mouths that every in shape guy is on steriods and with a little juice they could look like that to. If people don’t care for fitness that’s one thing but I hate those that make excuses about why they are little.

x2

This may be off subject but I think people who ‘dropped out’ of lifting attack it because they are so behind. At least this was my experience meeting with some old friends. I guess university life gave them all the reason to feel good about themselves AND mock those who are working hard in the gym.

LOL a couple of months. yea, I’m sure we’ll all be safe then.

I can’t even count the number of times people have said to me, ‘‘why do spend so much time in the gym? Why do you need to be strong? So what if you dead lift xxx or bench xxx’’.

I’m guessing everyone here who lifts has had these questions before and have answered them accordingly.

But what i wana know is why don’t those people work out?

I see guys walking round weighting 120, - 150 with stupid fucking Bieber hair cuts and skinny jeans thinking to myself:

I’m sure there will be a day when you’ll have to move a washing machine or a sofa or a fridge and you’ll be disappointed with yourself.

I just don’t understand how every able bodied person who can afford it doesn’t work out.
Sorry man, but you sound like the biggest douchbag :. Some people don’t like to work out, or getting bigger/stronger who cares??

Do you think doctors think hmm… i wonder why all these lazy, unmotivated people don’t want to become doctors, it is the greatest profession.

Or how about pro athletes, do you think they are thinking why don’t average people practice a little more, so they too can play their favorite sport and make money?

The reason people don’t do or become these things is because they don’t want to, don’t have time, don’t like it etc.

You keep doing what you love to do, and stop worrying about what others like to do. You’ll be a much happier man.

Ey normal people want all this. They want to be stronger and all thats why after New Years you got all the pro curlers and 1/8 partial squat squad come out for a month. But few have the drive to come out consistently and make it a priority. Most people would rather watch something funny on tv, go to bars, sleep, get high, or go on the internet. Theyve been good so far so why bother?

Its easier to accept being mediocre than to chase perfection. (I was looking for a word besides perfection that would be more appropriate but couldnt think of one right now.)

I love being big and strong, but I understand that there are people out there that are interested in other things. I’m glad they are interested in other things. The fact that so few people achieve respectable physiques give them value.

Juggling all of the priorities of life, and finding time to constantly improve your physique makes you stand out. I wouldn’t mind if less people were into it. Then the gym will be less crowded, and we can be that much more impressive.

If you aren’t different, you’re worthless.
