Why Do You Like Where You Live?

I would love to live in Texas, but it’s hard to leave jobs and family.

Texas is booming. Job market is still strong. Can’t help you with family! LOL Sometimes though, family is better when there’s some space between them.

I’d bounce in a heart beat. It’s the wife that keeps us here.

Damn! Sorry I asked. Pretty complicated stuff.

Studhammer,
Bulgaria is not famous for its very good signboards, but it is also available in English. It’s easy to navigate, considering it’s not a big country. Even very small American standards. People do not speak English at large. As part of Eastern Europe, the former communist pages have something to see. Somewhere I am interested in nature, elsewhere it is a good time and so. They like our people from the west.
With us the payroll tax and the profit in business is 10%. There are more insurance, but for example, civil servants pay only tax. Their insurance is paid by the state. For example, if you are a civil servant and your salary is $ 1,200, your tax is $ 120 and that’s it. Inheritance tax I do not know who to pay, and if there was anything worthless.
If you get hurt and require surgery and emergency intervention and go to a government hospital like the bigger ones here, no one asks you if you have insurance. They sew you, they plaster, and goodbye. You pay nothing. As long as it is not necessary to put something expensive. Well, there are cases that require a lot of money and the state does not take them. But people donate money and so.
There are, of course, many drawbacks, which, however, are not fatal to me.

Good question! In all honesty, it depends on the circumstances.

If Andy Murray wins Wimbledon he’s British, when he loses, we give him back and he’s Scottish.

In all seriousness, it’s not something we think about too much really. Certainly, away from sport, we consider ourselves both British and English really.

Don’t be sorry, we don’t really understand it ourselves. It’s a pretty unique situation to be fair.

I love the Portland area. I was born in NYC and it’ll always be the greatest city in the world, but I couldnt’ afford the lifestyle I want until I’m C-Suite

We have some of those too. Most of us call ourselves Americans, there are some though, like Texas, where we call ourselves Texans and then there are those from New York City that refer to themselves as New Yorkers. But people rarely say I’m a Floridian or a North Carolinian, etc.

Nebraska is pretty lame

Nothing redeeming?

Seattle is by far my favorite place in the country. Wife and I lived there for years and dream of going back. We both grew up on the Central coast of California (SLO) and also love that area.

Currently live about 40 minutes from Yellowstone national park, where I go for University.

There is a slight food scene here in Omaha, if there is anything worth checking out it would be the Niobrara River.

Thought of leaving? Any of the places listed on this thread look like a good option?

All the time, but being married and having the in law family residing here the decision needs to be unanimous. I love Norther Wisconsin, and I am a big fan of Florida. Opposites yes, but that’s where I think of going if the chance arises.

I will just say that i live in Alberta, Canada because i grew up in a small town north of edmonton, eventually moved to central alberta and now im a little further south. I hate living in cities, i grew up in a small farming community, but i have had to follow my work to keep food on my table. That being said, currently i am close to the mountains, have plenty of amenities, close to family and so on. Theres a rodeo/cowboy culture here that i also love cause i grew up with that too. My house and neighbors are good and that makes a big difference too. I love the variety of landscape we have in alberta, mountains prairies badlands and so on. Im an outdoorsman so i really appreciate what we have. I am never not going to live in alberta.

Northern California, I live about 50 miles east of San Francisco.

Moderate climate, 3 hour drive to the mountains, 1 hour drive to the beach. All the outdoor activities a family could want hiking, awesome vistas - safe - friendly - a regular house will cost about 1M, and a tank of gas is $90 - but hell, thats just a sunshine tax, no?

oh well -
