The point is that we all NEED carbohydrates! They’re essential just like protein and,believe it or not,fat.Our brain alone needs over 100 carbs a day just to function!Making your body burn fat and muscle for energy is unhealthy.It’s not bad for a quick fix,but after awhile,your body burns muscle tissue without carbs.I learned that the hard way.People who go on the Atkins diet lose a bunch of water weight and muscle tissue too,and some fat.
When you’re losing over 4 pounds a week,like on the Atkins diet,that is unhealthy,and it’s not all fat;probably more muscle and water loss than fat loss.They lose weight fast because carbohydrates hold water;the body burns fat,then muscle for energy.Carbohydrates are our bodies main fuel source,just like protien,builds muscle.Carbohydrates actually helps protein get to your muscles more efficiently; and faster too.
There are studies that show protein is digested better with carbohydrates.I know one thing:if I eat under 90 grams of carbs a day,let alone 125 grams,I feel tired,don’t get all the vitamins that I need(I think whole foods are better than a bunch of pills everyday day),and my workouts suffer-which is something I don’t want.Not only that,but if you want to prevent cancer in the future,going no carb/low carb(long-term) is setting yourself up for cancer ,since alkaline foods like fruits and vegetables have carbohydrates;keep a positve balance in your bodies PH.Ketones are highly acidic(meaning they can cause cancer).
