There are many animal species that mate for life so this doesn’t seem to be an absolute for all species.
Are humans one of the species meant to be monogamous? I have no idea, but the number of people in/want monogamous relationships vs those who aren’t/don’t says yes. This is just an observational perspective and not a hill I’m going to die on.
That’s completely false. Divorce statistics state otherwise. There is definitely a cultural “want” for that but its mythical. Statistically most couples break up and/or divorce. It was smth like 1 out of 10 relationships lead to marriage but 70% of marriages end in divorce. If those were the odds for a surgery youd feel pretty doomed. There is also a question of happiness in remaining ones. Also there are biological mechanisms based on that. I will not go in details but everything in males hormones and psychology is based on a drive to spread out his genetics. In fact, before there were so many humans the whole species relied on alphas to mate with many females.

Disagree here. Not every man gets to spread his seed, and now a days with how women are acting the ratio is skewed further. In nature same thing with most species. In the older days more man made it because it was more of a necessity for women to rely on men to be the bread bringers and take care of them during pregnancy. Now your “average man” is no where near as “lucky”.
Alpha lions, one lion mating with multiple lionesses, not an even distribution. Same thing with alpha silver back gorillas. Hippos same thing. Etc etc
Even in today’s society, all women chase resources to an extent. Some guys are able to sustain a relationship due to being able to be pull most of the weight of the relationship. I think you are making this more complicated than it should be man. You clearly see the “alpha” male in a lot of species in the wild. If your problem is with the literal word and you want to breeder vs non breeder that’s cool, doesn’t change the majority of the concept by just switching labels.
Ok cool you have a problem with the word. Me and a lot of the world will not redefine what it means to us. Animals very much so have alphas, with humans a tug and pull game between our biological animalistic instincts and societal aspects we created. So it leaves a gray area there for us, hence we disagree.

Alpha male status isn’t self proclaimed, the pack determines who is the alpha. A lot of men who self proclaim to be an alpha male are not, but are immature unhinged bullies.

TBH you can learn to be an ‘alpha male’ and a lot of that is acquired via family. guys with no dads or dominant mothers have generally a harder time, but can get there too. i’m sure there is some born in genetics, but at the end of the day it is a combination of how you see yourself and how you act it out. one of my college time buddies was a pure alpha in every sense of it, but it turned out the guy has a pretty low IQ and did not make it far in life. but sure all women at that time lined up to him
