Why are Some People Such Douchebags?

OK…shitting out words in cursive is WAY harder than expected.

This is a great way to trivialize any post written in disagreement with him removing any validity they might have had.

There is a flip side to your statement. I would bet many think he reads these threads just to see how many people he can belittle. Many deserve the tongue lashing he gives, but not everybody.

The only thing that really irks me is when someone fails to notice the universal sign that ‘this bench/piece-of-equipment’ is being used: shirt draped, drink, and straps next to it.

I usually take a walk around the track in the gym between sets (maybe a minute or so). Many times I come back to someone breaking down the bench or readjusting something.

I’m always polite and offer to let them work in, but jeeez, c’mon man, 1 minute and there’s a bunch of stuff laying around a sweat draped bench and you didn’t think that someone might be using it?

Certainly have yet to encounter the douchebags like some of you have described.

this is true, asshole,
but I was also commenting on your holier-than-thou, I am bigger than you are so you have to bow to me attitude that I see pouring out of the rest of your posts.

Trust me, my size has nothing to do with my outlook on life. Sorry if I am not humble enough for you. I will scoot “be more humble to please you” to the top of my list of things to do.

Damn it, I don’t have a pen…but since I am on the toilet…and I have blank toilet paper and shit to work with…
HA HA HA HA!
your a funny one aint ya.
I could give a shit how humble you are.
I couldn’t care less about you or how you think about things.
all I am saying is if you barge your way in on me personally,
I would not put up with it, I don’t care who you think you are.

ask me nicely I have no problem at all, its called mutual respect.
barge in cause you think you are above me, and we will have problems.

this is not a dick swinging contest, just saying that you act like a child, maybe its about time to grow up,ya?

Yeah I’ve seen this happen a few times at my gym most often to me at the dip station because there’s only one at my gym. But come on there’s other ways to do dips right just like there are other ways to do squats or at the very least substitutes to do them. If it was me in the position of no squat rack then I would probably find a substitute to the exercise one workout doing dumbbell squats as opposed to barbell isn’t going to kill you lol who knows you might end up liking the substitute exercise better:)

I’m sorry, barge in? What are you even talking about?

It isn’t like I care what you think either so what is your point?

I act like a child? Is that an insult?

I plan to be immature until the day I die. It helped me accomplish quite a bit by this age so why stop now?

Ok, I’ve read the whole thread, so I might as well throw my opinion in aswell.

1: I think its just plain rude to ask someone to move so you can do what you want.

2: I think its rude to jump on a piece of equipment just because you think that as you are bigger you can get away with it. Had this happen to me last week. I went off to get a couple of plates to add to the bar when I bench pressing, and the ‘big guys’ decided they wanted the bar, so they just moved in, and told me they were working in with me. They did’nt ask. They told me. Thats what pissed me off. And whether this is true or not, I think the only reason they did this was because they they saw they could bench more than me.

3: What I wonder is why guys like X are’nt off training in some hardcore dungeon, where they don’t get bothered by little guys, or people behaving in a non BBuilding way? Perhaps things are different in the States, but in the UK, you very rarely see anyone X’s size outside of a really hardcore gym, and certainly not in any commercial gyms. I think they’d lock him out if they saw him coming!

It not just move so he can do what he wanted. It was the ONLY rack. The ONLY place to squat. The guy was 250 rowing 140, using the rack to rest the massive weight. The only time he was “using” the rack was when he was resting. He wouldn’t have to “change” his whole routine. It’s not like he was doing DB presses on a bench and the OP wanted to do barbell presses.

Edit: And all that isn’t even what this thread was even about. It was the douchebaggery that came of it.

I’ve never “told” someone I was working in. I always ask. That one situation where was the first time (and last) that I have ever experienced 4 GUYS acting like little girls all grouped around one machine yet expecting no one to use any of the other three they had chosen for their group.

I don’t need to train in some dungeon to workout. 24 Hour fitness has all of the equipment I need…and generally there are very few jackasses hogging equipment like they were.

Here’s a tip, if you are with several friends, it makes no sense for you all to hold 2 or three machines hostage between you all as if no one else would need any of them during your workout for the next 45min.

But then where would we dish and be total bitches? Want to eat some Haggen-Daz and watch Gilmore Girls later?

This thread has got potential. Can we reach 18 pages?

What happened to the naked girls discussion I was promised anyway?

The Gilmore Girls are hot, I’d hit it.

only thing i hate at the gym is the group of 3 or so guys and no matter what when you say “how many more you got left?” its always 5.

Christ, I wish my commercial gym had fancy HS equipment. Over here, you’re really lucky if they have a Squat Rack!!

Fair enough if you asked I suppose. In my case they told me they were training in.

Anyway, back to the point of this thread:
Play nice with the other children. You never know when you’re going to need someone to spot you.

I’m not even going to read all these pages…

For what it’s worth:

I get annoyed when people don’t ask me whether they can work in, but basically stand around looking at me/the station I’m using all the time nervously etc.

Somehow, no one here in Germany can look others straight in the eyes or open their goddamn mouth when they want something.

They always have to do things behind your back…

So if I’m using the incline bench for 2 exercises in a row, or just use it in general -we only have one at my current gym-
then sure enough people, young and old, skinny and built alike, will stare at me and then, when I leave the bench, start talking to their buddies/spouses/whatever about what a meathead I am and how I always take up their incline bench or whatever.

That is typical behavior for Germans it seems, behind the back kind of attitude…

And it’s not limited to lifting. We have too many assholes here, makes you feel like you’re in some kind of stupid teenager movie or something.

Gotta say that people doing circuit routines kind of a pet-peeve of mine…
Many of the better gyms here (the ones allowing you to actually sweat while lifting) don’t have a lot of equipment…
So 1 guy doing a circuit routine, doing 10 quick reps on everything for 4 rounds total or so… Can be quite annoying.

If that kind of routine were so great, I wouldn’t even complain. It’s just that NO ONE who actually looks like he trains does circuits here, it’s always the guys who never manage anything in the gym or physique wise…

If you want to lose fat and look like brad pitt, why the fuck do you need to do circuit training?

Adjust your goddamn diet, do cardio or whatever… And maybe train full-body or whatever the fuck you want.
But taking up 10 machines and getting annoyed when someone wants to work in (so you won’t be able to finish your circuit in EXACTLY 3 minutes as your stupid internet-article program tells you to do) …
Especially if it’s more than just one circuit guy…
Bah.

My gym becomes literally useless whenever there are more than 2 guys doing circuits.

Does Waterbury know the havoc he is causing in Germany with his routines?

It’s the same here. None of them look like they workout much but they will surely act like they are better than you because they are sailing through a workout at the speed of light and turning it into aerobics.

Using one piece of equipment at a time? Cool.

Using 3 or 4 of them in a row and acting like everyone else needs to move out of the way and avoid the entire area until you get done? Bullshit. That is why I just sat down. What are they going to do…move me? They’re having enough trouble with that 25lbs plate on each side.
Mr.Purple wrote:

Don’t think it was him who started that though

And almost no one here has ever heard of Waterbury.

Or dorian yates, for the matter lol

Haha that’s hilarious. Do something else instead of creeping around him while he is doing his thing? Asking someone how long they are going to take helps no one. You think he’ll hurry since you are waiting on him?

Maybe time to add some mass if he thinks 95 lbs. will crush you.

Oh I’m sorry, am I being a douchebag?

maybe he was trying to play mind games

like the 95 pounds was just a taunt

although the OP did say it was “heavy ass shit” or something to that extent
