Can one of the next choices be “fat walmart lady defending her snickers”
I would try to kill the Komodo with a long handled tactical tomahawk.
I have heard Wolverines are one of the top 5 animals you do not want to run into in North America. I realize Komodos are not in North America for comparison but still, the wolverine is lumped in with moose, grizzle, wolves, and mountain lion.

Nice choice!
I think the scariest thing about the wolverine is it’s fearlessness and aggressiveness rather than the actual physical weapons it possesses. They have been known to run grizzlies and wolves off their kills, and they are both obviously better “equipped” for combat.

I think that as far as weapon choice you should usually pick some sort of sword if you’re talking about a fight where you expect to have enough distance to swing it. The only time I’d take something smaller is against an animal that can close so fast that I’m better off with something I can use while grappling.
It’s telling that in basically every culture on earth, prior to gunpowder, people with options chose to fight using swords. It’s so ubiquitous that we take it for granted, but think about it. People who had access to swords always used swords, and basically every culture invented some sort of long blade with a small handle. It must be a good choice.
